Landing gear

Landing gear are wheeled devices that enable a craft to land with sustained horizontal velocity. Landing gear can absorb a degree of vertical momentum and facilitate damage-free (theoretically) returns at higher velocities than a simple drop. Of course, at too great a weight or landing speed, these parts can still be damaged! They can be repaired by kerbonauts on EVA.

Landing gear parts have several configurations that can be modified within VAB and SPH upon assembly:

  • Start Rectracted/Deployed
  • Adjusting the color of the lights:
Light R - red
Light G - green
Light B - blue
  • Disable/Enable Brakes
  • Lock/Unlock Steering (during missions too)
  • Invert Steering (during missions too)
  • Lights On/Off (during missions too)
