After the recent update of the MediaWiki software to 1.24.2 some problems have been introduced and not addressed yet but please don't annoy Squad employees.

== Current status ==
Apparently these issues are due to the fact that the wiki currently resides on a temporary server. Unfortunately the person employed by Squad (aLeXmOrA) [http://kerbaldevteam.tumblr.com/post/120554265630/devnote-tuesday-slow-news-day-i left over a year ago] and thus it's unknown when these issues will be fixed. It was originally planned to move the wiki back onto a permanent server and with that move these issues here should be resolved. As soon as more information comes available this section will be updated.

== Issues ==
=== File namespace ===
There were previously several problems with the File namespace: uploading and moving files was impossible, and images would fail to display except in resolutions that had been used previously. These problems have been mostly fixed, however, the Mediawiki software still fails to convert .svg images into .png thumbnails, displaying the following error:
[[File:Image_needed.svg|91px]]
Original source:
<nowiki>[[File:Image_needed.svg|91px]]</nowiki>

=== Math tag ===
Previously a <math>-tag could be used to nicely print formulas using TeX but since the update an error appears:
<math>y = x^3</math>
Original source:
<nowiki><math>y = x^3</math></nowiki>

=== Job queue ===
There seems to be an issue with the [[mw:Manual:Job queue|job queue]] not running.

http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/api.php?action=query&meta=siteinfo&siprop=statistics&format=jsonfm

The number of jobs doesn't seem to be counting down as it should be. Subtle things seem to not catch up properly, such as category membership and "what links here". It's not something that will be immediately noticed in terms of viewing the site, as it doesn't block every category update, or every update of "what links here", just things which only ever occur as a background task and will never get triggered via other mechanisms. It is stuck at
"jobs": 5662
at the time of posting this issue, and has not changed for a good 5–10 minutes, where the expected behaviour is that it should be steadily counting downwards (except when an edit causes new tasks to be added to the queue). It's not an issue of the API page getting cached, as "views" is correctly updating with every reload of that URL.

=== Vector extension ===
According to [[Special:Version]], the discontinued [[mw:Extension:Vector|Vector extension]] is still installed. There are not any obvious specific issues caused by this, but it is an invalid configuration for MediaWiki 1.24.2, and could easily be responsible for odd behaviour somewhere. A fresh install of 1.24.2 does not include it, and the official docs say that it should have been uninstalled. [[mw:MediaWiki 1.22#Upgrades to Vector and other skins]]:

If you were previously using the Vector ''extension'', you must uninstall it (the ''extension'', not the ''skin'') before upgrading to 1.22.

Prior to uninstalling the discontinued extension, it would be prudent to do a quick check to confirm that the installed Vector skin is actually fully up to date with the version supplied as part of 1.24.2 (which includes all of the functionality previously supplied by the extension, either in the MW core or in the skin).

The [[mw:Extension:ExpandTemplates|ExpandTemplates extension]] should also be uninstalled, as it was merged into the MediaWiki core in [[mw:MediaWiki 1.23#Merged extensions|1.23]]. This is less likely to be responsible for visible problems, as it is just a diagnostic/development tool; but bad practice all the same to keep the outdated extension around after it has been merged into the core, and may break something.

=== Forum links ===

The forum got updated, and thread numbers have changed. The new forum will convert old links (such as those created by the "thread:" link tool), but because thread links use the old style (and will thus get converted), you can't use thread links unless you have the old thread number. For example, the example thread link on [[Kerbal_Space_Program_Wiki:Guidelines#Linking to other project resources|the guidelines page]] was number 12406 on the old forum, which is converted to 12377 on the new forum. A link to [[thread:12377]] gets converted to thread number 12348, which does not exist.

Also, blog and article links will just resolve to the forum main page. (Bug links still work.)

== Resolution ==
These problems can only be fixed by someone who has administrative access to the server this software is running on, which are only Squad employees. Sysops like me ([[User:XZise|XZise]]) have no access to the server itself but just via this software interface.

== KSC on the Mün? ==
It says not to ask but I'm asking. WHAT WAS THE KSC DOING ON THE MÜN?!?

If you find technical issues other than these please contact [[User talk:XZise|XZise]] or create a new topic in the [[Kerbal Space Program Wiki talk:Migration_problems|talk page]].
DiamondThttps://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?title=Tutorials&diff=79196Tutorials2017-07-21T19:05:54Z
DiamondT: Added a credit

== Creating New Tutorials ==
To create your own tutorial, start with [[Tutorial:Template]]. When adding to the [[:Category:Tutorials]] add the name of the tutorial (like in the template) to sort the pages without the prefix ''Tutorial:''.

'''Note to tutorial writers:''' These are supposed to be tutorials. Think "Orbits for Dummies." If you're going to explain intricate details (including math!), consider marking your tutorial "'''Advanced'''".

Now we're over all the boring stuff, let's get onto the technical details: getting to Mum, hopefully in one piece. If you're not familiar with getting out of Kerbin's orbit and going over to mun please refer to this link (link will be added).

There are many ways to get to the Mün. One such way is to make an elliptical orbit around Kerbin that reaches the Mün. The gravity of the Mün can do part of the work, but slowing down is also useful. Once you reach the Mün, circularize. Repeat this process with the added step of docking new modules.
Another way is to simply use the debug menu to make it orbit, then make later modules intercept.
== With every update coming out, it takes so long to create pages for new content ==

It's October 27 now, 3 weeks since KSP 0.25 release. Does it take that long to create dedicated wiki pages for new parts and stock craft? I ended up starting some stubs for the new 0.25 parts.— [[User:Deepspacecreeper|Deepspacecreeper]] ([[User talk:Deepspacecreeper|talk]] • [[Special:Contributions/Deepspacecreeper|contribs]]) 8:27pm, 27 October 2014 (PDT)
:I've already a bot which creates all those infoboxes. In theory (if I find the time) it could also create stub part pages so other authors can expand them easier. But currently I haven't time to add that but hopefully with the next release this is going to work. But apart from that, someone has to create them so why not you as you now did? It took some time but if nobody had found the time/muse to do I can't command others to add pages ;) . — [[User:XZise|xZise]] [[[User talk:XZise|talk]]] 13:58, 30 October 2014 (CDT)
Recent event for 1.2.2 is incorrect, stated as 1 Nov 2016, should be 6 Dec 2016. Front page is semi-protected, soI can't change it.
Recent events 0.19 and 0.18 dates are wrong as they were released in 2012. == Fan-made Tool section ==

There's plenty of online tools for calculations related to the game (orbits, Δv etc.) and there isn't a forum thread or wiki page that has at least a rudimentary list of them, which I think would be beneficial. If it's ok, I'd like to make one here on the wiki for inclusion on the main page (as it seems the logical place to put it imho) - I don't think the forum would be ideal for this as it would require me (or whoever creates the thread) to be the sole maintainer, unlike the wiki. --[[User:MechaLynx|MechaLynx]] ([[User talk:MechaLynx|talk]]) 22:40, 10 April 2014 (CDT)
:Go ahead and create such a repository. There was actually such a list, although pretty short, on [[addon]]. Now it was removed, because the lists on there weren't really maintained, but you can find it [http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/w/index.php?title=Addon&oldid=32512#Tools_and_applications here]. ::I've started working on it, should be done within the next couple of days, time permitting. I'd like to delay posting a link until it's ready if that's ok. ::Uh, dude the page has been ready for some while now. I know you're busy but it's just standing there being useless. I'll add a link to [[Tutorials]] soon so that there's at least something linking to it (I think it's good enough to be linked somewhere on the wiki, but I won't add a link on the main page unless you or some other mature member does so). --[[User:MechaLynx|MechaLynx]] ([[User talk:MechaLynx|talk]]) 10:04, 29 April 2014 (CDT)
==1.0 revamp of functionality==

Ok, that's step one done. Based the rewrite on what RoverDude wrote on the forum in response to questions and what I've found in game. Still to add is the value of using more experienced scientists but I don't have any hard numbers on that so I left it out for now. Also apologies to whomever laid out that nice table of transmission bonuses, but it's obsolete now and I'd hate for new readers to get the wrong impression. It'll be a lot of work to repeat that for all the different variables now that there's layers of bonuses on every result based on situation. --[[User:BluetoothThePirate|BluetoothThePirate]] ([[User talk:BluetoothThePirate|talk]]) 15:36, 5 May 2015 (UTC)

: Nice job, there was a bit of a void for information on how the new functionality works. Your edit seems like good step in the right direction.
: Something I'm still unclear about, and isn't yet answered in the article, is how the lab and scientist boosts interact with the per-experiment cap. E.g. a surface sample returned to KSC gives about 75% of its value on first return, then maybe 20%-ish on the second, and so on, eventually giving 0 science when it's maxed out. Do any of the boosts let you go past that limit?

: Thank you for your contributions. Regarding the table: There is a version history so in theory if someone thinks this table is of use they can still use that. And it doesn't matter but if the information is not valid (anymore) then the information usually has to go. If there were a demo where it's relevant there would be a reason or if it's easy to draw comparisons then old information can stay. But just having a table with bulk of data doesn't qualify (afaik). — [[User:XZise|xZise]] [[[User talk:XZise|talk]]] 12:44, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

:: Indeed, thanks for shedding some much needed light on it. I think the processing energy table actually does need to return, in an updated form. Don't worry about having removed it though, that's just a normal and expected part of the ebb and flow of a wiki, as the article homes in on the correct content.
:: There's a significant energy use when you initially load the experiments into the lab, processing them into queued data for research. It's basically the same as the old process for transmission boost mechanic, which that table represented, but queues them for research instead. I've only just started my first lab, but was rather surprised by the fairly huge energy usage when loading it. 1200 units of battery for a Kerbin orbital lab is not nearly enough, and it took several full cycles of the batteries to load about 360 units of data into it (a mostly complete set of low and mid-level experiments from upper atmosphere, low space, and high space).
:: No promises, but I'll restore and update the table if I can confirm the energy values in 1.0 for processing stuff into the lab data queue, when I have time. If someone else gets there first, it's all good. For ease of reference, here's the old table, pulled from the page history:
:: I'm not 100% certain, but I think the transmission bonus is gone, although you can still store+process+transmit, to both load an experiment into the lab's research queue and send it back to base (or recover it back to base after loading it into the lab). A new row required is the amount of research data provided by processing each type of experiment. The energy values need to be confirmed as well. It doesn't need to reflect bonuses, I think, just the base line values and a simple note that bonuses, multipliers, etc need to be applied to them.
:: --[[User:Murph|Murph]] ([[User talk:Murph|talk]]) 13:33, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
::: There's still a transmission boost, but it's not a lab function anymore, it's provided by scientists in the crew. When we get around to creating detailed pages for the three kerbal jobs (which should be a thing) then a new version of the chart referenced to scientist experience would go there. Or maybe on the science page. I dunno.
