The features listed here are planned for future versions of Kerbal Space Program and may change during the course of development.

This list is not an official road-map for KSP. It is maintained by the community, and has no direct relation to what may or may not be included in the final product. Already implemented features can be found in the version history.

This section lists all planned features for future releases. Entries highlighted in blue are planned for the next update (soon). Entries in yellow have been partially implemented. Entries in green are already in development but are not expected for the next update or are that huge that there are multiple updates incrementally adding that feature.

The next version will most likely be 0.24, but it is possible that a intermediate version might be released.

The entries on the list are not a commitment, and the developer team is not under any obligation to implement them all. These features may be pushed back or implemented on another way then suggested here.

The LT-2 Landing Stut is primarily used to land safely on celestial bodies. Prior to its introduction in 0.14, winglets were often the preferred method of providing landing legs for Mün missions.

Usage
The LT-2 Landing Strut is used as a landing support when landing vertically. It is connected radially and extends with the G key (Default). It extends much farther than the smaller cousin LT-1 through a unique telescoping action, making it suitable for landers with larger engines.

Although comparatively long, LT-2 landing struts still need to be placed low on a rocket. They do extend far enough to be used with LV-T30 or LV-T45 Liquid Fuel Engines, but cannot reach past the LV-N or Mainsail.

LT-2 Landing struts start in an folded state, and will need to be extended. This is done with the “G” key or hitting the “extend gear” button on the HUD. While in motion the legs can produce substantial forces, potentially resulting in a several meter “hop”. If the leg collides with another part of the rocket, it can break connections and push that part away.

The maximum safe landing speed for an LT-2 landing strut is ~12 m/s. Landings with massive rockets or on rough terrain may need to be slower to avoid ripping off landing legs.

As of 0.19.1, landing leg mass is counted. This is in contrast to landing gear.

Bill always appears scared when in flight and acts as if he is possibly the worst kerbal for the job. He is always afraid during flight, possibly because he suffers from multiple conditions that include, but are not limited to:

* Vertigo
* Home sickness
* Travel sickness
* Motion sickness
* Sopite syndrome
* Fear of high speeds
* Fear of suffocation
* Severe claustrophobia

Kerbonaut is the 3rd worst career path Bill could imagine, the worst being roller coaster tester & 2nd worst being professional freefaller. The only reason that Bill enrolled in the kerbonaut training program is that his mother <strike> pressures </strike>encourages him to become a kerbonaut, thus showing that their family is honourable as a career in space travel is the most honourable career to kerbals, and kerbonaut at the top of that. Incidentally, mountain dew bottling is the second most honourable job to kerbals, and is what Bill always wanted to do.

A kerbonaut is the KSP equivalent of an astronaut. Kerbonauts are Kerbals who pilot manned spacecraft, space planes, rovers or any other not probe controlled craft.

Each kerbonaut has two attributes which are shown in meters next to its name in the vessel info page and in the astronaut complex, which show its courage and stupidity. These values affect how the kerbonaut reacts to decouplers decoupling, parts blowing up, and other events. There is a third attribute, Bad Ass, which overrides courage and stupidity. Jebediah, along with a few other kerbonauts, has this flag enabled.

The three starting kerbonauts are Jebediah “Jeb” Kerman, Bill Kerman, and Bob Kerman. More can be hired in the Astronaut Complex, each one having a random name, courage, and stupidity. The surname of any kerbonaut is always Kerman.

The Original Three
Every new game, whether Sandbox or Career mode, begins with three kerbonauts already available and ready for launch. While all other kerbonauts have randomly generated names and stats, these original three are always the same: Jebediah “Jeb” Kerman, Bill Kerman, and Bob Kerman.

These are the only "veteran" kerbonauts in Kerbal Space Program, designated by orange IVA suits; everything else is visually identical to all kerbonauts. In some of the game's loading screens, three orange suited kerbonauts (presumably Jeb, Bill, and Bob) have helmets with orange stripes instead of red (or grey in the case of IVA) but this isn't seen in-game.

Because they are hired by default and always listed first in the same order they are most likely join missions than any of the random kerbonauts. The best chances to join is the kerbonaut first, which is usually Jeb followed by Bill and then by Bob.

There are numerous anomalous formations on the surfaces of bodies in the Kerbol System. Some remain undiscovered as of today.

Kerbol
* None known

Moho
* There are large, steep vertical "tunnels" that could be considered easter eggs, and anomalous forces are present around the rim of each tunnel.

Eve
* None known

Gilly
* 0 degrees, 0 degrees, there is a perfect square pyramid.
* A temple in the desert
* A crashed flying saucer on northern ice cap
* Scorched Mk1 Command Pod, Liquid fuel tank and LV-T45 rocket in a hangar on the Insular Airfield.
* At the exact north pole, there is perfect square pyramid which flips Kerbals randomly. This is not really an easter egg, but is a product of glitches in terrain mapping.
* In the ocean just south of the KSC, about midway between land and the southern ice cap, engraved into the ocean floor is a giant smiley face, best seen from orbit or on a topography map like :File:Kerbin heightmap.jpg.

Mun
* Three monoliths
* Three mun Arches
* Neil Armstrong Memorial
* Crashed Flying Saucer

Minmus
* One monolith
* Broken terrain on north pole.

Duna
* Giant Kerbal face
* The camera which looks like that of the Curiosity rover, buried in the soil (visible on only high terrain detail)
* Hill making SSTV signal (source of signal now several hundred meters beneath hill as of 0.22)

Ike
* Magic Boulder - There is a monolith on the boulder. Boulder contains strange clipping boundaries that can result in your ship exploding seemingly spontaneously. It also seems to glow green as if it is radioactive. (M.I.A. since 0.18.)
* A pyramid at the north pole similar to the one on Kerbin that flips the kerbals.

Dres
* None known

Eeloo
* None known.

Overall
* While not easter eggs per se, the exact geographical poles of most bodies have highly unusual topography, usually making them inaccessible.

Kerbals
* The color of the Kerbals' skin is #84D455 (#84D455) in hexadecimal. The hexadecimal RGB value spells like “badass” in leetspeek.
* Kerbals have several flags for traits aside from Courage and Stupidity. One of them is BadS. Jeb has this trait.

IVA
* Some of the cockpits have post-it notes and other humorous writings inside them. The writing is somewhat blurry and hard to read, but still legible. For transcripts of the notes, see the respective part pages.

Parts
* On the Z-100 and Z-400 Rechargable Battery, the logo claims the batteries are Batt Man Batteries. This is a reference to Batman.
* On the Communotron 88-88 is the hexadecimal number 0x62656570. When 0x62656570 is converted to ASCII it spells "beep".
* Also on the Communotron 88-88, is the serial number 04101957, which is the launch date of Sputnik 1, 4th of October, 1957.
* When the Mystery Goo™ Containment Unit is opened, revealing the holes, if one looks very closly in them, a faint smiley face can be seen.

Loading Screen
* While not that much of an Easter Egg instead of a reference, the loading screen makes a reference to The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, stating "Answering Ultimate Question" one of the well known phrases from the book.
* One of the two main menu images is that of a Kerbal standing on the Mun's surface, with Kerbin in the background. There is a 1 in 40 chance that a sand castle made of Mun dust can be seen at his feet.

Scenarios
* During the Space Station One scenario, by zooming out far enough to show the planetary map, a ship by the name of 'Kerbal XX' can be seen orbiting around Duna in a near-equatorial orbit (as of 0.23)

Mun, also known as the Mun and sometimes written as Mün, is a relatively larger moon orbiting Kerbin. It can be thought of as an analogue to our own Moon. It is gray in appearance with craters of various sizes and mountains exceeding 5029 m in height. The gravitational pull on the surface is 1.63 m/s², approximately 1/6 and 8.18 m/s² lower than that of Kerbin and about the surface gravity of Earth's Moon (1.624 m/s²). It is possible to land on the Mun or use it for gravity assist (gravitational slingshots) to outer bodies such as Minmus or into Kerbol orbit, though such maneuvers do not save very much fuel and are more imprecise. It is, however, useful for plane changes with proper timing.

New players should note that Mun (like the majority of celestial bodies in the game) has no atmosphere. That means parachutes do not work when descending to the surface.

There are anomalous geological formations that can be found on the surface of the Mun. To preserve the enjoyment of exploration for new players, those who have found these sites are encouraged to keep their exact coordinates secret.

Synchronous orbit around the Mun is not possible, since it would have to occur at an altitude of , beyond the Mun's sphere of influence. However, putting your spacecraft just outside Mun's SOI and having the same semi-major axis would make it appear stationary. A normal 25 km orbit can be achieved using around 800 m/s delta V. A semi-synchronous orbit with half the rotation period of the Mun is possible at approximately 1797.41 kilometers.

Terrain
The Mun's terrain is rough, grey, and scarred by craters. Its low-lying areas tend to be darker in color. The Mun also features canyons which can be hundreds of meters deep and a few kilometers long.

The Mun's highest points reach a maximum altitude of more than 7061 m near the south pole at 152.33° W and 82.52° S. This altitude permits 10× warp, allowing crashes with terrain while being in a seemingly stable orbit. Its lowest point, below -247 m, is on the northern hemisphere south-west of the large northern crater at 76.63° W and 35.32° N.

When terrain scatter is activated in the graphics settings, the Mun has rocks scattered on its surface. Like all terrain scatters, these rocks are strictly cosmetic and do not collide with ships or Kerbals.

As of 0.21 the Mun is peppered with procedural impact craters making Mun landing more difficult. Previously the lowest point with an altitude of 0 m was on the east side of a large crater, at 35.42° E, 8.27° N.

The Hell Kraken has been encountered on the mün, with objects being thrown out of kerbin's sphere of influence upon re-loading the vehicle.

The Mun also has several hidden surprises for explorers to find:

Biomes
Currently Mun is one of only three celestial bodies, alongside Kerbin and Minmus, which has multiple biomes in or over which science experiments deliver different results. It has even more biomes than Kerbin. Each of the large craters is an individual biome. Then there are midlands- and highlands, which both return different results when inside/over one of the minor craters. The polar regions also have three different biomes. With the biomes the major craters have somewhat official names, although the names appear to be very generic.left
The complete list of Mun biomes is:
* Midlands
* Midland Craters
* Highlands
* Highland Craters
* Canyons
* Northern Basin
* East Crater
* Northwest Crater
* Southwest Crater
* Farside Crater
* Twin Craters
* East Farside Craters
* Polar Crater
* Poles
* Polar Lowlands

Observation from Kerbin
The Mun's orbit keeps it directly above Kerbin's equator. Because the Mun is tidally locked to Kerbin with a perfectly circular, non-inclined orbit, exactly 50% of the Mun's surface (excluding areas on the edge obscured by the Mun's mountains) is ever visible from Kerbin.

Due to the Mun's non-inclined orbit, solar eclipses occur every time the Mun goes between the Sun and Kerbin. Due to graphic engine limitations, these solar eclipses currently do not make the sky black, or darken the land. However, solar panels will become blocked by the Mun in an eclipse and become useless for a short period of time.

Observation of Kerbin
Because Mun is tidally locked to Kerbin, Kerbin is only visible from 50% of the Mun's surface, and Kerbin never sets or rises as seen from the Mun. The Mun longitude for which Kerbin remains directly above in the sky (at the zenith) is about 47 degrees east. The Mun's equator is coplanar with Kerbin's, so any location on the Mun's equator that faces Kerbin will also face Kerbin's equator. Kerbin is not tidally locked to the Mun, so any point on the Mun where Kerbin is not obscured by the Mun's landscape will be able to observe every point on Kerbin as Kerbin rotates. Kerbin's synodic rotational period with the Mun is 25617.909 seconds, or 1.18323 Kerbin solar days.

Science
Although the science-multipliers of Mun's surface and orbit are quite low compared to that of other planets and moons, Mun is comparably easy to reach and has a very large number of biomes which all yield different science results. This makes it - together with Minmus - the main source of science points during the midgame.
Trivia
* Prior to 0.14.2, the tallest points on the munar surface were no higher than roughly 600m.
* Mun was Kerbin's, and indeed the game's, very first moon.
* After its implementation, many fans began calling the body Mün, pronounced the same as "moon", believing the original spelling to be a mistake. However, several of the game's developers have been heard referring to it as Mun, pronounced "muhn". In the "Surface of the Mün" title screen, a crashed lander resembling a Kerbal X has the words "Mün or Bust" scrawled on the side. Both spellings are generally accepted, however the spelling in-game is Mun.
* Mun's orbit is perfectly circular and has zero orbital inclination. Such an orbit in reality would be very unlikely since this would require precise positioning of any dust/bodies that created it during the planetary system's formation, as well as the absence of a central star or other planets.
** This was likely done to make it easier to reach for new players.
* Before introduction of procedural terrain the Mun's highest point was within 45° latitude of the equator, had an altitude of 2967 m and was located at 129.64° W, 0.97° N, on the north side of a canyon which was on the east edge of a large crater.

Bop is one of the five natural satellites of Jool. It seems to be a captured asteroid and has certain similarities to Gilly, another presumed captured asteroid orbiting Eve. Bop has a large crater with a white rim. Some of its mountains rise nearly 22 km above the surface, meaning any orbit below could possibly encounter the surface. Due to its small gravity, landing is relatively easy, similar to Minmus. This low gravity results in its crushed up irregular terrain. The brownish surface color may come from solid carbon or iron oxide within the harsh landscape.

Topography
Bop is mostly mountainous with very few flat surface areas. Due to a very low surface gravity, it is unable to achieve hydrostatic equilibrium. A noticeable feature on Bop is a very large impact crater on the northern hemisphere west to the prime meridian. The highest point on Bop is an astounding 21.755 km, marking the highest point above sea level in the Kerbol System. The point lies at 23,87° W and 64,57° N and is as high as Olympus Mons on Mars.

Like the other Kerbol bodies, excluding Minmus, the Mun, and Kerbin, Bop is a single biome.
