The Kerbodyne ADTP-2-3 is a liquid fuel tank containing 15 t of liquid fuel/oxidizer mixture. Like the C7 Brand Adapter - 2.5m to 1.25m, it is both an adapter and a fuel tank. It is designed to attach size 2 parts to size 3 parts.

It contains slightly less fuel than the Kerbodyne S3-3600 Tank or the Rockomax X200-32 Fuel Tank. Unlike the C7 Brand Adapter, it is the only adapter of its size; no slanted adapter exists.

Product description

This adapter is used to bridge between Kerbodyne and Rockomax rocket bodies.

Kerbodyne

Usage

The ADTP-2-3 is a liquid fuel tank containing LF/O mix. This allows it to power liquid fuel rocket engines, like the RE-L10 "Poodle" Liquid Fuel Engine. If there are multiple liquid fuel tanks connected to an engine, then they will all be drained equally to power it. [1] Unlike both the C7 Brand Adapter and the Kerbodyne S3 series tanks, the ADTP-2-3 can only be placed in-line, and cannot be radially mounted.

When full, one tank can power a single RE-L10 "Poodle" Liquid Fuel Engine for up to 205.9 seconds at full thrust, or a single Kerbodyne KR-2L+ "Rhino" Liquid Fuel Engine for up to 25.0 seconds at full thrust.

Like other adapters, the Kerbodyne ADTP-2-3 is used to transition a rocket from a 3.75m radius to a 2.5m radius.

Variants

As of version 1.6 this adapter has three textures that can be switched in the editor.

Trivia

  • The ADTP-2-3 has the best cost ratio of any liquid fuel tank; regarding dry cost, it only costs 8.2 cents per unit of propellant stored (or 54.1 cents including fuel).
  • For comparison, most fuel tanks cost ~50 cents per unit of propellant (or ~100 cents wet).
  • Prior to version 1.6, the ADTP-2-3 did not contain any fuel, and was therefore much lighter. While an ADTP-2-3 adapter had a mass of 0.2 tons then, it now has a dry mass of 1.875 tons (presumably added by the fuel tank itself).
  • The fuel tank-less version of the ADTP-2-3 was originally accessible through the "advanced mode" options in the editor, if a lightweight adapter containing no fuel was needed; however, this was removed.
