+ | I personally think it's pronounced as muhn and spelled Mün. In German language you got the Umlaut: ä, ë, ö and ü. They are pronounced different. The normal u is pronounced oo as in moon while ü is pronounced uh. When in the map view you see a "focus" and if the focussed object has a ü in it's name it has a totally different font. The KSP font doesn't support umlauts while the textures don't care (as seen in the title screen). If ü was supported I'm sure it would be spelled as the Mün. I do not agree with renaming the Mun to "Mün" as done by User:Eduardog3000. The moon is still labeled "Mun" in game and unless that changes, I do not see a need to have it labeled Mün ingame. I am aware there is confusion regarding this, which was strengthened by the new Title screen with the "Mün or bust" scene, but unless the "ü" makes it ingame, I suggest keeping "Mun" as the Wiki definition for now. --Senshi (talk) 09:23, 22 December 2012 (UTC) | I do not agree with renaming the Mun to "Mün" as done by User:Eduardog3000. Naming: Mün or Mun
People regularly refer to it as Mün (pronounced as moon) but spell it as Mun (which has an uh sound.)
I understand that most UK and USA keyboards dont have the capabilities to type ä, ë, ï, ö, ü or ÿ, but i personally would have no problem correcting this, but i would need to know how to spell it.
My preferance is for Mün because it is pronounced in a way that gives us the connection to it that we have with our own moon.
- From what I can tell, all 'in game' content refers to it as 'Mun'. In English, that 'u' would have a harsh sound, but I believe it is supposed to be read as 'Moon'. I believe the use of the accent is a habit some people have picked up to help stress way it is supposed to be said. I think we would need to get some one from squad to help clarify this. I personally think it's pronounced as muhn and spelled Mün. - Now there are two things about your comment. First the last comment is almost 7 months old and on Talk:Mün there is already a new discussion about this. On the other hand I don't see a reason why they should have used Mün instead of Mun. On an American/British (and I guess Mexican) keyboard there is no direct key to input this letter and it isn't in the English or Spanish alphabet. Maybe they are inspired by the metal umlauts but they don't change the pronunciation (only how the letter is written). Now in the trivia is this:
“ | However, several of the game's developers have been heard referring to it as Mun[…] | ” |
--Senshi (talk) 09:23, 22 December 2012 (UTC)
- I changed the term Mün to Mun. However, the name of the page is still Mün; I can't seem to find the "move page" tab/button anywhere. Does a mod/admin need to do this? --Tofuturkey (talk) 15:51, 29 April 2013 (CDT)
- For the moment I changed the templates back to Mün, so the page still works. Now technically I could move these pages, but I'm uncertain if this would work in long term. Hey guys, can someone fix the geostationary orbit? I got no idea what's wrong with the code there, and any searches I did for a straight-out-number redirect to here. --Stelith61 (talk) 12:31, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
- Fixed. It seems like the Template:Sigfigs is incompatible to the new version of Template:OrbitAltitude --Crush (talk) 07:43, 7 April 2013 (CDT)
