Is the liquid surface really 'water'

- No, according to a dev. (forgot the name, I think HarvesteR), it's an water-ammoniac mixture. But, if you'd ask me, it is water, and the molten core heats the surface up to a pleasant 18 degrees celsius, causing the water to be liquid. - It is also said in the article that the water (if it is water) must contain something else to keep it molten at the low temperatures. The temperatue is definetely below 0, which is stated as well and can be measured. So it is impossible that the core keeps the water liquid, unless Laythe's atmosphere is an extremely bad heat conductor, which is not the case, because it is somewhat similar to Kerbin's. --dgelessus (talk · logs) 16:24, 8 June 2013 (CDT)
- Because Laythe is the closest moon to Jool, it would be heated by tidal forces from Jool's gravity, much as Jupiter's moon Io is, causing the whole planet to retain a relatively constant temperature, keeping the oceans in a liquid state. - It may, but what could be going on is that heat from tidal forces in Laythe's core may not travel to the surface. What happens instead is that the heat from the core only reaches the ocean at the bottom through things such as volcanic activity or hydro-thermal vents (which would have to be rather common). The warm water then rises to the surface, loosing much of it's energy along the way, keeping the oceans liquid, but not retaining enough energy to heat the atmosphere. ---Sean1082 (talk) 18:55, 28 November 2014 (CDT)

Extra data needed
Usually I would build a rocket and go figure it out myself, but my normal computer is being repaired so i am stuck with my old Dell with an Intel Pentium 4HT and it can barely support v0.16. So i currently cant get any data on the new bodies. Would somebody be willing to get the following information on Laythe (and possibly other bodies)?
I need day length (compared to parent body, so a planet to a star and a moon to a planet), radius and orbital statistics (inclination & eccentricity.)
If you give me the data then i will be very thankful and i can finish touching up the information on this wiki.
- Laythe's tidally locked to Jool, so it'll rotate once per orbit, which is 14 hours, 43 minutes and 1 second. The radius is 500,000 metres, about 83% the size of Kerbin. The inclination is 0º and the eccentricity is also 0. R0cketor (talk) 06:21, 29 March 2013 (CDT)
Better Annotations

- Do we need to mark other moons/planets in the image? Especially if there is only one (except Kerbol maybe) which is then so prominent, it should suffice to say which moon/planet is shown in the image description? Land Landing
How difficult is it to land on land? I want to head over to a Joolian moon, and Laythe seems like a good idea, but I don't want to land in water. What tactics could be used? Ben Again (talk) 19:04, 2 May 2013 (CDT)
- Almost exactly the same as landing on Kerbin. Just aim about 25% of the circumference of the planet in overshot and the atmosphere will slow you down. Just before you hit the island to land on, deploy chutes. R0cketor (talk) 01:18, 3 May 2013 (CDT)
Crescent bay biome
After "some" searching, both in game (0.90) and in google, I haven't found the so called "Crescent Bay" biome, or have found anyone with proof that it can be found in game (0.90). Listing something that can't be reached can only lead to countless of frustrating hours, as we all know how OCD we people playing this game can be, so in my opinion either prove it, or not list it at all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Victhor (talk • contribs) 08:48, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
