Technology tree(技術ツリー 略称Tech tree)はKSPにおいて新型パーツを獲得する為の仕組みである。ツリー上には"node"(技術アイコン)が配置されており、それぞれにパーツがいくつかずつ割り振られている。Scienceポイントを消費して各技術を開発することで対応するパーツがVABとSPHで使用可能になる。各技術にはそれぞれ必要となる前提技術があり、先にそちらを開発する必要がある。全技術を開発するには合計10098[outdated]ポイントが必要になる。
Kerbal Space CenterにあるResearch and Developmentで"Technology"タブを選択することで技術ツリーを表示することが出来る。SandboxモードではScienceポイントシステムは無効化されており技術ツリーを見ることは出来ない。その代わり全てのパーツが最初から利用可能である。
利用法
Technology treeは横方向に伸びており、左側が低レベル技術で右側が高レベル技術になっている。左端の技術Startは初期状態で保有している。
各種実験を行いScienceポイントを貯め、それを消費することで技術を"Research"(研究)することができる。前提技術を保有して研究可能になった技術アイコンのみツリー上に表示される。最終的には8階層まで段階的に技術を開発していくことになる。
ほとんどの技術はより低レベルの技術保有に依存している。例えば"General Rocketry"では前提として"Basic Rocketry"を保有している必要があり、20 Scienceポイントを貯めていても一つ飛ばしで研究することは出来ない。一部の技術には複数の前提技術が設定されており、そのうち一つを保有していれば研究できるものもあれば、前提技術全てを保有しないと研究できないものもある。
