What can I do to help?
- All you need to do is create an account (wiki account is separate to any other account) and then start editing! If you are not familiar with the wiki-syntax, don't be afraid, we'll help you and add mark up as needed.
- See what pages are missing and create them, even if it's just a small bit of content. Please take a moment to consider if the page is really relevant or useful or needed, and check if there's another existing page which meets the need adequately (or could be edited to meet the need), before creating a new page. In some cases, the correct or better action may be to edit the link instead of creating a new page.
- Impove and expand Short Pages or Stubs
- Add screenshots. Pictures can make an article more interesting, but don't overdo it. You'll need to register before you may upload files
- Help us to combat spam
- If you are not sure what page to try to improve, use the Random Page link on the left hand menu, try to find something that could be improved on that page
- Don't forget about the 'Discussion' pages, you can use them to suggest things that could be improved
- Link the pages together. As you read an article, if you see a KSP term try to make sure it is a link to a page. Don't worry if the 'right' page does not exist yet, it will help promote it with the wanted pages
- Want to translate a page? Check out Project:Translation
- If you are good with image editing, take a look at the File List and try to replace bad images with better quality versions
- Replace image thumbnails with higher-quality images (reduced to the needed size via the [[Image:]] syntax).
Stuff to do for experienced users
- Keep an eye on the RecentChanges and revert bad changes and spam.
- Wikify articles, i.e. add links, wiki markup, clean up layout etc.
- Be nice to our new users :)
- Use SpecialPages to find broken things, and then fix them. For example, with Special:BrokenRedirects, you can find redirects that lead to nothing.
- Update pages with the {{outdated}} template in use.
- Watch the Helpdesk and answer the questions if you can.
To-Do-List for admins
For some of this, you need special rights.
- Keep an eye on the RecentChanges!
- Look at Category:Nominated for deletion
- Look at Category:Move requests
- Look at Category:Suspected Spam Bots
- Look at Category:Protect
- Look at Category:Ban nominees
- Import the mediawiki help texts
Things to update after new stable release
- Adding the new version to the Version history, Template:Versions and Main Page/News.
- Updating the Check version template to the new version.
- Adding the new version to the version check templates: Rev and ver.
- User:BobBot is a bot which usually updates the Category:Part configuration files and infoboxes of the parts. If required it also creates stub part pages if new parts were added. Because Squad might do changes which break the implementation it is possible, that this takes a few days until the bot has checked all files. If you want you can update it at any time but it would be probably a waste of time for you (because the bot would have fixed it anyway) and for the bot operator (he could've saved time by just not fixing it).
