The Advanced Canard is a control surface — a part that generates lift and deflects to alter a craft's center of lift to aid control of aerodynamic flight within an atmosphere. It also functions as a small wing in that it generates significantly more lift than an aileron.

In contrast to the AV-R8 Winglet which was designed when KSP only had rockets, the Advanced Canard was intended for use on an aircraft. That intention has not stopped space programs all across Kerbin from using the (slightly) lighter control surface as a rocket stability fin.

The Advanced Canard offers different dimensions from the Standard Canard, most notably a shorter attachment base. They otherwise have identical stats.

Usage

Advanced Canards must be mounted curving backward otherwise they will cease to function as intended.

Product description

Our engineers thought this design looked "high tech" and therefore must be clear improvement on earlier models.
