The Communotron 16 has a data rate of 5 Mits/s and a data cost of 5 e/Mit. <!-- Values from the KSP.log. Exact entry is: "Score for transmitter: 1.200 - Data Rate: 5.000 - Data Cost: 5.000". I am not sure if this is a Communotron 16, but since is has the lowest datarate I assume it is. Also there's no unit for the datarate and the datacost.--> While by far the slowest transmitting device, it is also the using the least amount of electricity and is the first one the player gets their hands on. <!-- Previous edit of this part described it as being *least* efficient, but efficiency being a measurement of result divided by cost (in this case, electricity) it clearly has the highest ratio, is able to transmit the most data for a given amount of electricity, and so is the most efficient. It *does* have the worst transmission speed and this is reflected in the new edit, but using language relevant to speed.--> It's small, has almost no mass and can be placed almost anywhere without having to worry about list on the vessel.

 1. 1.0 1.1 The mass and drag are from the part config, but the game handles it as physicsless.

The Communotron 16 is a deployable antenna item for the science transfer system. Like the Communotron 88-88, the Communotron 16 can be deployed and retracted through action groups or manually.

Currently[outdated], it has "PhysicsSignificance = 1", making it a zero drag and massless part.

Technical

The Communotron 16 has a data rate of 5 Mits/s and a data cost of 5 e/Mit. While by far the slowest transmitting device, it also uses the least amount of electricity and is the first one the player gets their hands on. It's small and can be placed almost anywhere.

Description

The Communotron 16 is a versatile and lightweight antenna, suitable for moderate-range communication, or long-range backup communication.
