Decouplers are parts that separate stages of rockets either vertically or radially.

Some types of vertical decouplers, such as the TR-2C Stack Separator and TR-18D Stack Separator, separate on both sides, whereas others, such as the TR-18A Stack Decoupler, remain attached to one side of the rocket (the side facing away from the arrow on the decoupler).

Radial decouplers, such as the TT-70 Radial Decoupler, attach to the sides of a rocket and eject stages horizontally. This can be useful for setting up Asparagus Staging, among other uses.
