An encounter with the Mun

An encounter occurs when the projected flightpath of a spacecraft intersects the sphere of influence of another celestial body. The orbital path after an encounter is drawn centered on the same celestial body than before, resulting in “weird” orbits usually when visiting moons.

Encounter is a game-typical term and usually refers to the game drawing trajectories in more colors than expected.
