The Engine Pre-cooler is a combination of an air intake and a small liquid fuel tank. It has the same properties as the Engine Nacelle regarding the dry mass, amount of fuel it can carry and the air intake properties. It differs in that it radiates heat substantially better and costs slightly more.

Prior to 0.24 it was purely cosmetic but could be easily mistaken for an air intake. This part was originally developed for the C7 Spaceplane pack, and has become a stock part since 0.15.0 and the introduction of the Spaceplane Hangar.
