Gene Kerman

Gene Kerman is the flight instructor that coaches the player in the in-game tutorials. He also appears in a promotional video by Squad titled "At the Kerbal Space Center"[1]. He is one of only a few officially named individual Kerbals0.23[outdated] and the only one thus far depicted with light-colored hair. Gene also wears a white sweater vest and a headset. His dialog in the tutorials depicts him as patient and helpful without the vanity of his KSC colleague Wernher von Kerman.

Gene Kerman will be manning the Mission Control in 0.24[outdated][2].

His Steam Trading Card says, "Someone has to run the show."

Naming

His name is most likely a reference to Gene Kranz, the NASA flight director during the Gemini and Apollo Programs, who was known for wearing white "mission vests" his wife made for each mission. It may also refer to Gemini 9, Apollo 10, and Apollo 17 astronaut Gene Cernan, the last person to stand on the Moon, although his occupation doesn't match like Gene Kranz's does.
