Gene Kerman is the flight instructor that coaches the player in the in-game tutorials. His name may be a reference to Gene Kranz, who used to be the NASA flight director during the Gemini and Apollo Programs or to Gemini 9, Apollo 10 and Apollo 17 astronaut Gene Cernan. He will be manning the Mission Control in 0.24[outdated][1].
