Das Kerbal Space Center Nachts beleuchtet

Das Kerbal Space Center (Abkürzung: KSC), auf dem Planeten Kerbin, ist derzeit der einzige Standort von dem aus Missionen gestartet werden. Auf einem etwa 25 km² großem Plateau befinden sich verschiedene Gebäude und Strukturen. Das KSC dient als zentraler Schnittpunkt, von dem aus Zugang zu allen Funktionen des Spiels gewährleistet wird. Alle Gebäude außer der Rollbahn sind auf sechseckigen Feldern platziert. Die Leitstelle befindet sich auf einem dreieckigen Abschnitt und stellt eine Ausnahme dar.

Seit Version 0.25 sind die Gebäude zerstörbar, nehmen also Schaden bei Einschlägen. Seit Version 0.90 gilt es im Karrieremodus die Gebäude auszubauen und damit deren Kapazität zu erweitern oder die Funktionalität zu verbessern.

Montagehalle für raketenbasierte Raumfahrzeuge

Die Montagehalle für raketenbasierte Raumfahrzeuge (original VAB für Vehicle Assembly Building) ist eine große Fertigungshalle auf dem KSC, in der Raketen und raketenbasierte Raumfahrzeuge entwickelt und montiert werden. Auch wenn die im VAB montierten Fluggeräte direkt nur von der Startrampe gestartet werden können, ist es möglich diese in die Raumgleiterfertigung zu exportieren und umgekehrt.

Kühlmitteltanks

A big globular Coolant Tank with a climbable ladder as well as three smaller Coolant Tanks can be found south-west of the Launchpad.

Wasserturm

Located south-east of the Launchpad, the Water Tower is about as tall as 1/3 of the VAB. It is possibly part of an unseen Sound Suppression Water System similar to the one at Launch Complex 39 in real life.

Fahnenmast

A second flag pole can be found on the northwest of the Launch Pad.
