To fight vandalism in existing articles simply ''undo'' the changes. In the page history there is an ''undo'' link after each edit which redirects to the editor with the page prior to this edit. Adding a short notice in the summary and clicking ''Save page'' removes the vandalism entry. Unfortunately this doesn't remove the vandalism entirely, as both edits – the vandalism and the revert – are visible in the page history, but at least the page itself is then vandalism free. This is also completely possible without being a sysop.

Vandalism is not tolerated in Kerbal Space Program Wiki. If you see vandalism please help out. If you are a vandal who was sent here, please read what is not acceptable on this wiki.

If you spot vandalism on articles please undo them, mark spam pages as unwanted, warn the vandal, and report them to sysops if needed.

Identifying vandalism

Vandalism pages or edits appear in the following forms:

  • Nonsense (duh!)
  • Apparently wrong information
  • Test edits
  • Changing images in articles
  • Uploading of irrelevant images
  • Using articles as talk pages
  • Spamming links to external sites
  • Advertising

Removing vandalism

There are two kind of vandalism with different approaches:

Newly created pages

When a spam page is newly created the best way to handle it, is to replace the complete text with {{Delete|Spam}}. Replacing the complete text is important to prevent search bots to index the page's content. And if it wasn't spam, the previous status is still available in the page history.

Hopefully an sysop will delete the page and block the user.

Editing an existing article

To fight vandalism in existing articles simply undo the changes. In the page history there is an undo link after each edit which redirects to the editor with the page prior to this edit. Adding a short notice in the summary and clicking Save page removes the vandalism entry. Unfortunately this doesn't remove the vandalism entirely, as both edits – the vandalism and the revert – are visible in the page history, but at least the page itself is then vandalism free. This is also completely possible without being a sysop.

Warning the vandal

Vandals should be warned with the appropriate template. Remember to sign your warning with ~~~~.

Minor vandalism

For first-time minor vandalism, such as adding a few nonsense words, use {{vandal1|article}}.

Warning.svg Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Kerbal Space Program Wiki. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted or removed. Repeated vandalism can result in the loss of editing privileges.

Severe or repetitive vandalism

For severe vandalism such as blanking, creating spam pages, or repetitive (second-time) vandalism, use {{vandal2|article}}.

Ambox warning pn.svg This is your last/only warning. The next time you vandalize Kerbal Space Program Wiki, you may be blocked from editing without further notice.
