The Kerbodyne KR-2L Advanced Engine is an extra large liquid fuel engine which has a reversed specific impulse profile. While most rocket engines have a higher specific impulse in space the specific impulse of this engine is highest on atmosphere. It has the highest specific impulse in atmosphere except for the ion engine and Toroidal Aerospike Rocket. But on the other hand it has the lowest specific impulse in vacuum of all liquid fuelled engines. It is the same as the atmospheric specific impulse of the Rockomax "Mainsail" Liquid Engine.

Unlike the S3 KS-25x4 Engine Cluster this is an extra large engine which can attach parts on both sides. It's has the second highest thrust of all engines available.

Manufacturer's description

This engine is Kerbodyne's first attempt at a super heavy lifting engine. Later models have been designed with multiple nozzles to prevent a single point of failure and reduce manufacturing costs.
