The MTM Stage, formally the Moho Transfer Module, is an unmanned command module with a built-in xenon gas tank.

Product description

The Moho Transfer Module houses a control core and a generously sized xenon tank. Perfect for transporting large scientific payloads anywhere where large amounts of deltaV are required.

Usage

Like the Probodobodyne HECS2, the MTM incorporates many parts into one. It has the electric capacity of a Z-4K Rechargeable Battery Bank, almost the torque of a Advanced Inline Stabilizer, and a xenon gas capacity between that of a PB-X150 Xenon Container and a PB-X750 Xenon Container.

Compared to other parts, the MTM has a unique set of nodes on its bottom side; it has four symmetric size-0 nodes, followed by a size-1 node below them. This allows the MTM to be fitted with four size-0 engines, while still being attached to a single size-1 decoupler.

The MTM's unusual shape makes it ill-fitted for atmospheric use, and a fairing should be used to launch it into orbit. However, it is very capable once in space. With just four IX-6315 "Dawn" Electric Propulsion System ion engines attached, the MTM has a delta-V of 9798 m/s; with only one engine, it has a delta-V of 18616 m/s. However, as ion engines require electricity to function, the delta-V in practice will be lower.

The MTM has a higher heat tolerance than most other unmanned command modules.
