The Mk2-R Radial Mount Parachute is a parachute which is placed on the side of a rocket instead of the tip like most other parachutes.

Usage

This parachute behaves exactly like the Mk16 Parachute, but weights 50% more. That means Mk16 parachutes should usually be preferred unless the ship design requires a radially-mounted solution.

Don't forget that parachute's efficiency depends of atmospheric density, so it won't work or even deploy in vacuum (including Munar landing).

Parachutes do not appear to subtract any of their mass from the craft they're attached to when they disappear post-landing.

Description

A parachute comparable to the Mk16-XL chute, but which is placed radially instead of attached on top of something.
