The PPD-10 Hitchhiker Storage Container (also HSC) is a crew container that can hold 4 Kerbals. Its lack of command module functionality means that another manned command pod or a probe core is required to control the vessel to which the PPD-10 is attached.

Usage

The Hitchhiker Storage Container is empty by default but can be filled in the VAB by using the crew tab.

The main uses of storage containers are:

  • Crew quarters for space stations
  • Holding rescued Kerbonauts
  • Crew quarters for large vessels

Description

The PPD-10 is one of the few parts in Kerbal Space Program that is covered in multi-layer insulation.

The HSC was an invention of necessity - how do we store 4 Kerbals on-orbit without any real provisions for return? Who needed this remains a mystery, as do his motives.

The IVA view of this shows several boxes which apparently hold provisions. They are labeled as Food, Not food, Science, More science, Trash, Junk, Rubbish, Refuse, Board games, toothbrushes, and laundry.
