The Rockomax "Poodle" Liquid Engine, formerly designated LV-909 Liquid Fuel Engine (Large)‏‎, is a size 2 (2.5 meter diameter) liquid fuelled rocket engine. It has a comparatively low thrust to weight ratio, somewhat offset by its relatively short height, high Isp and thrust, and wide gimbal range.

The primary intended role of this engine is for larger upper stages of rockets for orbital insertions, transfers, and landings. For interplanetary travel, however, using five LV-909 Liquid Fuel Engines instead of one Poodle is the better choice, because they have more thrust and higher fuel efficiency for the same mass. Their only disadvantage is the much lower gimbal range.

Description

A more reasonable engine for rough economic times, the Poodle engine doubles as a BBQ when at low power.
