Grouping and ordering

The current page is actually up to date. But very confusing and poorly laid out. I'm messing around with colors to try to group related commands. They'll also likely need to be reordered.

Question - do we want to arrange this by color or version? It seems like it's arranged (poorly) by version at the moment, but it seems more logical to group by command type (since presumably, the version information is just a bonus.)

The alternative is to group it by color, but separate everything that's in the demo version from the new commands. Thoughts? If anyone even watches the talk page? :P -Epsilon (talk) 18:31, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

  • I agree with what you are saying here. I think ordering by version is a very poor idea, it has next to no bearing on what you want to find out. Think it should broken down into separate tables, each in their own section. So a section for 'VAB/SPH', 'IVA', 'EVA', 'General UI' (Maybe link to pages that can explain things like the how to navigate the menu system and how to use the tracking station) and finally a section for 'Ship Control'. + / - to zoom not working

Can someone else confirm? They don't work for me on 0.23.5. (only shift-mouse wheel will zoom). Happens everywhere, VAB, SPH, in-game. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BlobKerman (talkcontribs) 14:01, 11 May 2014‎ (UTC)

My +/- are working, but I had changed them in the settings before playing. --Mnethercutt (talk) 06:06, 12 May 2014 (CDT)

Numpad +/- are working. Regular +/- are not. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Qazsedcft (talkcontribs) 08:48, 29 June 2014‎ (UTC)

Shift-tab to reverse cycle focus in orbital map doesn't work

Can someone else confirm? It doesn't work for me on 0.23.5.--BlobKerman (talk) 19:05, 29 June 2014 (CDT)

Kinda lame, turns out it's left-shift only.--BlobKerman (talk) 19:18, 29 June 2014 (CDT)

Volume / Music adjustment

Is there any way to control sound/music from the game? I play KSP on one monitor, and do spreadsheets and other important work on another. It's totally not youtube videos. It would be cool to temporarily turn off music without exiting from game while watching videos. Dlazerka (talk) 22:41, 10 August 2014 (CDT)

You have to switch to the game and go to the settings, but you don't have to leave the current “session” you are playing. Apart from that most modern operating systems support you to change the volume of any application without switching to it. — xZise [talk] 06:20, 11 August 2014 (CDT)

mod key

maybe instead of inventing a bicycle new key, making it more confusing, we'll just use ALT (as windows being most common system) and mention alternatives from other OS, instead of explaining what a mod key is? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gendalf (talkcontribs) 05:11, 15 May 2015‎

I disagree. I think it's just fine as it is. It's explained prominently at the top. What is confusing about the explanation? The only confusion I see is possibly for old school Unix people who are used to X11 terminology where there's actually 5 "mod" keys (mod1–mod5), but we're an entirely different group and very unlikely to be confused by the way that it's being used here. --Murph (talk) 07:40, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
A new name for 3 buttons makes it 4 names, when you can use 1 of 3, leaving 2 alternatives. It's just a suboptimal decision for a simple action, that would eliminate the need to read the explanation of the button for 90% of the people. :P That's the whole point of this page - concise information delivery. 19:40, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
