Handling of version history
Rather then litter the article with what was added in each version, the main article should simple cover the latest version. Details about when things where added can be put in a 'Changes' section at the bottom. Thecoshman (talk) 18:06, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
Mun or Mün?
What is the correct spelling of the nearest neighbour of Kerbal?
People regularly refer to it as Mün (pronounced as moon) but spell it as Mun (which has an uh sound.)
I understand that most UK and USA keyboards dont have the capabilities to type ä, ë, ï, ö, ü or ÿ, but i personally would have no problem correcting this, but i would need to know how to spell it.
My preferance is for Mün because it is pronounced in a way that gives us the connection to it that we have with our own moon.
- From what I can tell, all 'in game' content refers to it as 'Mun'. In English, that 'u' would have a harsh sound, but I believe it is supposed to be read as 'Moon'. I believe the use of the accent is a habit some people have picked up to help stress way it is supposed to be said. I think we would need to get some one from squad to help clarify this. I personally think it's pronounced as muhn and spelled Mün. In German language you got the Umlaut: ä, ë, ö and ü. They are pronounced different. The normal u is pronounced oo as in moon while ü is pronounced uh. When in the map view you see a "focus" and if the focussed object has a ü in it's name it has a totally different font. The KSP font doesn't support umlauts while the textures don't care (as seen in the title screen). If ü was supported I'm sure it would be spelled as the Mün. - Now there are two things about your comment. First the last comment is almost 7 months old and on Talk:Mün there is already a new discussion about this. On the other hand I don't see a reason why they should have used Mün instead of Mun. On an American/British (and I guess Mexican) keyboard there is no direct key to input this letter and it isn't in the English or Spanish alphabet. Maybe they are inspired by the metal umlauts but they don't change the pronunciation (only how the letter is written). Now in the trivia is this:
|“||However, several of the game's developers have been heard referring to it as Mun[…]||”|
- Unfortunately there isn't any citation so it isn't possible to verify if it is simply because the font doesn't support it or because some user think it should be Mün. — xZise [talk] 17:23, 29 April 2013 (CDT)
add geosync orbit???
a geosynchronous orbit around the Mün is not possible (because it is tidally locked, sort of). That part is clear. But should we add geosync orbits to the planet box???
I think we should as it is a physical characteristic of the planet. In orbital informations (like the ones for the planets) we could then say it lies outside the sphere of influence. Also, i put geosync orbit and sphere of influence together precisely for this reason.
Hey guys, can someone fix the geostationary orbit? I got no idea what's wrong with the code there, and any searches I did for a straight-out-number redirect to here. --Stelith61 (talk) 12:31, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
- Fixed. It seems like the Template:Sigfigs is incompatible to the new version of Template:OrbitAltitude --Crush (talk) 07:43, 7 April 2013 (CDT)
Were the terrain changes completely reverted in 0.20.1?
If so, should we delete the 0.20 Terrain overhaul?
About chages in 0.21
I fixed the highest point to note which was the highest which I knew - but it's even higher, because my test was done by crashing onto Mun's surface (which usually happens on mountain slopes, instead of mountain peaks). I also temporary removed information about typical equatorial touchdown altitude, because the outdated ones would lead to a series of catastrophes. It should be reverted with proper data after ISA Map stat will be updated and somebody who use mods will get his hands on it (I guess I can try to do it too, I like mods which doesn't ruin game balance and aestetics).
