I would prefer for calculated tables to include a reference of the used values. The Orbital Table should provide the used Mass, Gravitational constant and Equiatorial radius, because those are sometimes subject to minute change due to game development and I'd also like to check my calculations.

That being said, I'm having trouble reproducing the table with the current values, so I'd also like the exact used equation(s). Is it the one mentioned above or something more complex? Also, is the Gravitation constant really a rounded version of the real world one? (with the given equation, I'm getting a speed of 2549.7 and not 2295.5m/s^2 @ 70000m height above Kerbin) RedJimi (talk) 07:08, 27 June 2014 (CDT)

:I haven't played KSP a long time, so I'm not sure what value is correct but I wanted to note that some tables like synchronous orbit basically use the values shown in the infoboxes of the body. So if that changed only one (e.g. Kerbin/Param) needs to be updated.

:Now if someone knows how to extract the exact values, I would love to get the extracted values and update them myself (or via User:BobBot). Or those who extract them can update the pages like Duna/Param (randomly chosen body, not that there is a problem with it).

:Maybe I can update the table used here (I guess you are talking about the one at the bottom) to use the same values from the infobox. Oh and a nitpick: the unit is distance divided by time so m/s or ms^-1 but not m/s² ;) — xZise [talk] 12:26, 27 June 2014 (CDT)

The formulas in the first part give absolutely no relevant information since they are for a very specific problem which does not exist in the Kerbalverse. Seems to me like someone just thought they looked great and wanted to copy them. Source: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091112233010AAuc2TR

I'm going to agree with you, as these equations seem to referring to the 3 body problem which is not even simulated by KSP. I going to remove those and do some general revisioning to help improve the article. -lesohnoire

questions about the math

I haven't played KSP a long time, so I'm not sure what value is correct but I wanted to note that some tables like synchronous orbit basically use the values shown in the infoboxes of the body. So if that changed only one (e.g. Kerbin/Param) needs to be updated.
Now if someone knows how to extract the exact values, I would love to get the extracted values and update them myself (or via User:BobBot). Or those who extract them can update the pages like Duna/Param (randomly chosen body, not that there is a problem with it).
Maybe I can update the table used here (I guess you are talking about the one at the bottom) to use the same values from the infobox. Oh and a nitpick: the unit is distance divided by time so m/s or ms^-1 but not m/s² ;) — xZise [talk] 12:26, 27 June 2014 (CDT)
