Time warping speeds up time. There are two different types of time warp. The arrows above the MET show the active warp factor.

Physical Time Warp

This is always applicable and try to apply physics to the loaded craft so for example drag and rotation will be calculated. As this is very complex it allows only four different steps: 1× (default), 2×, 3× and 4×

Non Physical Time Warp

With non physical time warp it is possible to speed up to 10 000× but without physical calculation. By this it is possible to stop any rotation. Following speed factors are available: 1× (default), 5×, 10×, 50×, 100×, 1 000×, 10 000× and 100 000×

This time warp is not always up to 100 000× available. It is impossible to use non physical time warp within an atmosphere and for higher factors the craft needs a greater distance to the orbited body. Every celestial body has it own reference frames which define at which altitude what time warp available is. Kerbin's reference frames are:
