Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I buy Kerbal Space Program?

You can buy Kerbal Space Program via these stores:
Or if you want it on console:

What are the recommended system specifications?

Kerbal Space Program will put quite some strain on even modern systems. Please check the System Specs page.

I want a refund, what should I do?

Squad is unable to refund purchases. For 3rd party sites (Steam, GOG, etc.) the refund policy for the given site applies.

What happened to experimental releases?

In order to improve quality, Squad has created an internal team of community members hand-picked for their ability to post useful bug reports. Experimental releases are now only available to this team.

How can I join the experimental team?

Community members are chosen by Squad, so one cannot join the team by asking. Having a knack for posting informative, clear bug reports with reproduction steps, logs, version of the game, etc. will definitely help your chances, though.

I think I've found a bug!

In every piece of software, it's very likely there will be bugs in the program. If you've found something that can potentially be a bug, you can report it to the Dev team on the Squad Bugtracker. To make your report easier to identify as a bug, please follow the Bug Reporting Guide, and please check to see if there aren't other reports about the same issue already.

When is the next release coming?

It is very hard to estimate a release date for any software product because unexpected things happen all the time, that's why Squad doesn't give release dates, not even estimates. They used to do it before but they could hardly ever release on the promised date, which caused people to get upset, and since they don't want to disappoint you, but above all Squad doesn't want to rush a release of a potentially buggy and untested product, they'll keep the timeline to ourselves and release the game updates when they feel they are presentable to public.
Follow us on our social media for any other updates.

Is it possible to download old versions of KSP?

Squad has the last version from each development cycle since 1.0 available for download. On the KSP Store they are on the Downloads section of your profile. On Steam and GOG, you have to download them as Betas, in the respective tab of the desktop application. It's not possible to officially download versions prior to 1.0.

What features are planned?

See the Planned features list.

I'd love to use mods, but that's not the way Squad intended it to be played, right?

Squad does a weekly showcase of mods called Modding Monday, and there are forums specifically devoted entirely to mods. The mods are there to enhance the game as you see fit!

How do I install mods?

Download your mods from Curse, Spacedock, Kerbaltek or any other source you desire. Most mods come in .zip format. Mods will have to be installed in the GameData folder. Search for the GameData/ folder and open it. At the same time open the .zip you downloaded. Some mods already contain a GameData/ folder. If yours does, open it. Drag and drop the contents into the GameData/ folder.
Here's a useful tutorial about the details.
