:::::Answer like this yes :) and there is this 'pencil' thing above which does add it. And you don't need this <nowiki> thing: Add two dashes and four those swirly lines and the server is automatically replacing it with your name and time. About loosing data: Have a text editor open and save it there to prevent any data loss. — [[User:XZise|xZise]] [[[User talk:XZise|talk]]] 21:02, 19 December 2014 (CST)

What to say?

Hi, is [1] a copy of "Configuration File Definitions" just placed at the end? Isn't there a more reasonable way, because that made the table of contents … like 10 times the size (I haven't counted them yet)? — xZise [talk] 06:08, 17 December 2014 (CST)

Response

Yes, it is. I don't know if there is a more reasonable way. I am certainly open to suggestions. joshuadery [talk] 15:26, 17 December 2014 (EST)

My problem is that I'm not familiar with the stuff you edit so I can't really judge what can be done to improve it. My major concern was that you copied one article completely into another, which is in it self not a problem, but both articles were already long before that and usually two articles get merged because for themselves they are tiny stubs. The original had a size of about 33 kB and your addition added 44 kB (basically 1 kB is about 1 thousands characters) and already before our addition the article wasn't very short.
I am/was worried that you just copied your article because you didn't recognisition (regarding the “header” you added) and to promote it more you just added but not merged (and combined) them into an already existing article. Don't get me wrong: I don't think you did it just for selfish reasons and maybe you only recently discovered the other article but at least the first edit (by just copying) looked to me “quick and dirty” style. Problem is that this now needs to be finished up. — xZise [talk] 11:08, 18 December 2014 (CST)
As you can see, I am in the process of cleaning it up. I'd also like to have the original page that I created [Configuration File Details] deleted, but I'm not sure how to do that. As to a quick and dirty edit, well, you have it quite correct there. I discovered (re-discovered?) the link that is on the main page, and rather than learn how to do redirects or disambiguations or whatever, I appended mine to his. I'm in the process of cleaning it all up (70k can take awhile!), but I'm sure that if you've been keeping an eye open, you've already seen some of the massive improvements over what was there before, especially in the Table of Contents!
Yes I've seen quite some edits (but just for clarity some people (I don't know if you are one of them) do one small edit separately and have them 10s of edits but actually not editing much at all). About the other page: I could delete them (only sysops can that) or you could make a redirect from it (although to be honest I'm not sure a redirect is necessary because how often will someone search for 'Configuration File Details'). Just give a short comment here if I should delete it and it's gone ;)
Also (at least with me) answer directly where the discussion is so that it's easy to follow. Only if I don't respond for days you can contact me on the talk page. — xZise [talk] 12:06, 18 December 2014 (CST)
I know you are not familiar with (at least this wiki) so just see the last comment as advice. And don't forget to sign using --~~~~~- — xZise [talk] 12:07, 18 December 2014 (CST)

Answer like this yes :) and there is this 'pencil' thing above which does add it.
