The OX-STAT-XL, like its smaller version, the OX-STAT is a fixed (or permanently deployed) solar panel. It has no tracking ability and the lowest . The OX-STAT-XL is also less susceptible to breakage than other panels.
Usage
On paper, it has the best power/mass ratio of all solar panels. However, since it doesn't orient itself to the sun automatically, it needs to be constantly pointed to the sun by orienting the whole craft to ensure optimal energy output (which is unfeasible in practice) or multiple panels have to be placed all around the craft to ensure that at all times at least one is facing the sun. This can quickly eliminate the benefit of its very small mass.
Product description
“ | A larger version of the OX-STAT, the XL version features a larger surface area than its smaller cousin while retaining the cost and weight benefits of a static solar panel. | ” |
