Proton-K

Note to the editor: the Proton-K booster as designed will handle payloads of up to 18.24 tonnes, assuming 4,500 m/s of delta-V to reach a 100 kilometer Low Kerbin Orbit. The design TWR for the first two stages is above three (3.01 even at the maximum payload for the first stage), which is excessive. The SAS on the first stage is meant to toggle on and off for purposes of correcting spin only; it will cause a dangerous oscillation if SAS is left on. Might want to mention this to folks who plan on using that booster. Capi3101a (talk) 11:50, 17 June 2013 (CDT)

What happens if you deactivate TVC on the six outside engines? — xZise [talk] 12:15, 17 June 2013 (CDT)

Incomplete R-7

Build like described here and with additional rocket engines for the first two stages

It looks like your R-7 are missing engines on the lowest stage. Also with the new large adapters it is also possible to add 20 LV-T30/LV-T45 engines, instead of Skipper or Mainsail engines. I build a Soyuz replica with the new adapters which is able to lift a quite amount of mass into orbit. — xZise [talk] 12:58, 4 August 2013 (CDT)

Okay after the most recent edit I have two questions about the R-7:

  • Did the real R-7 also have winglets to steer the craft? Or did you add them to make them better steerable, because I had enough torque to rotate the craft even when I only used LV-T45 in the center stage.
  • How do you place 5 radial symmetric Sepatron I on the escape tower?

i simply used 6x Sepatron I -- one could custom mount 5x, but they would also have to custom assign abort Action Group — Preceding unsigned comment added by Donfede (talkcontribs)
  • Found struts (~8x) were necessary on the R7 between the poodle engine(s) and connecting fuel tanks. Without them I would get repeated disconnects around 25km (v0.21.1)
