The ability to pull up a master list and select In/Out junctures from there would be much more convenient.

Bitstream's Wish List

Kerbal Space Program is such a great game! The deliberate pace, the level of complexity, the thrill of accomplishment — these are difficult to find individually in computer games these days, let alone together in one game. KSP is the masterpiece in the making.

As I've been playing KSP, there are some situations where I've said to myself, "It would be so cool if KSP had such-and-such...." What better place to capture a wish list than on the wiki itself. Without further ado, and in no particular order....

  • Ability to modify Action Groups for a vessel in flight. I launched my space station modules with an overabundance of lights. It wasn't until I had them hooked up in orbit that I realized I had gone way overboard. It would be nice to be able to modify the "Light" action group to only toggle some of the lights.
  • Ability to add or remove components from a vessel during EVA. In the above example, I could send out a Kerbal in EVA to detach those extra lights on my space station. As another example, I could reinforce a space station by constructing struts between docked modules. (Q: Where would items be stored after removing, or before adding? A storage container part?)
  • Ability to see a master list of parts for which a particular resource can be transferred. Sometimes it is very difficult to get the camera situated so that both parts I want to transfer between are visible, especially on a space station. And selecting the resource from the "Resources" list doesn't cause all parts to show a pop-up, if some of the parts are part of a symmetry group. The ability to pull up a master list and select In/Out junctures from there would be much more convenient.
  • History of missions. I would love to have an in-game record of missions conducted: how long they lasted, where they went, what crew members were involved, and notable events like EVAs and science activities.
  • Mission history by crew member. After a while I get to thinking, "How many missions has Jebediah been on?" Plus, I like to distribute missions evenly across my various kerbalnauts. A mission history (along with a summary count of missions and/or total mission time shown next to each kerbalnaut) would be cool.
  • Ability to rename a ship when there is no active controller. If a command module is unoccupied (or a remote command module has run out of power), the option to rename the vessel goes away. I'd love for it to still be available. Better yet, I would love to be able to rename vessels from the KSC Tracking Station.

Past wish list items that have become a reality!

  • Summary of science experiments conducted. With so many methods of collection, and so many distinct locations where unique readings can be taken, it's easy to lose track of what's already been inspected (and how much). A list of past experiments would help when planning the next science mission. Available as of v0.23
  • Fine-tune maneuver controls. Depending on zoom level and angle, sometimes the 6 axes of the "Add Maneuver" interface can be quite sensitive. The ability to switch to a fine-tune control would be helpful. Available as of v0.23.5 (mousewheel adjustments)
