Gene Kerman is the flight instructor that coaches the player in the in-game tutorials. He also appears in a promotional video by Squad titled "At the Kerbal Space Center"[1]. He is one of only five official, uniquely identified Kerbals and the only one thus far depicted with light-colored hair. Gene also wears a white sweater vest and a headset.
His name may be a reference to Gene Kranz, who used to be the NASA flight director during the Gemini and Apollo Programs. He will be manning the Mission Control in 0.24[outdated][2].
His Steam Trading Card says, "Someone has to run the show."
