Is this Wiki dead or something?

There’s been no wiki news for years, and apparently there are still Migration Problems going on 3 years later. Is everything dead? Is this place fixable? Please someone explain to me.

-Harry_Robinson

Dead, no. Grossly under-resourced since eg: lots of people are volunteers with sometimes limited interest and/or time due to their studies, yes. UmbralRaptor (talk) 03:07, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

Oh. Thanks for the reply though. I’m gonna try to help out then; I’d feel bad if I didn’t after how much this wiki has helped me over the years.

With every update coming out, it takes so long to create pages for new content

It's October 27 now, 3 weeks since KSP 0.25 release. Does it take that long to create dedicated wiki pages for new parts and stock craft? I ended up starting some stubs for the new 0.25 parts.Deepspacecreeper (talkcontribs) 8:27pm, 27 October 2014‎ (PDT)

I've already a bot which creates all those infoboxes. In theory (if I find the time) it could also create stub part pages so other authors can expand them easier. But currently I haven't time to add that but hopefully with the next release this is going to work. But apart from that, someone has to create them so why not you as you now did? It took some time but if nobody had found the time/muse to do I can't command others to add pages ;) . — xZise [talk] 13:58, 30 October 2014 (CDT)

The Wiki has become extremely sluggish and laggy

Yep, something is wrong, and it's diminishing my edit output. — Preceding unsigned comment added by HamShanky (talkcontribs) 01:03, 20 September 2014‎ (UTC)

Hmmm it looks for me not worse than prior to the maintenance. — xZise [talk] 04:25, 20 September 2014 (CDT) (10 hrs later)
If it's now better, please let us know. Maybe the wiki was actually laggy 10 hours ago. — xZise [talk] 04:27, 20 September 2014 (CDT)
It is now not laggy, I only have to wait 2 seconds compared to 2 minutes or looking at a 500 error. It's better now. --HamShanky (talk) 21:25, 21 September 2014 (CDT)
Could be that there was additional stress on the servers shortly after they have become available again. — xZise [talk] 03:46, 23 September 2014 (CDT)

CoolNavBoxes are out of date

Could we get an update? There are two new planets now, and I imagine people are being turned away if the wiki looks that outdated.

Recent events wrong dates

Recent event for 1.2.2 is incorrect, stated as 1 Nov 2016, should be 6 Dec 2016. Front page is semi-protected, soI can't change it.

Recent events 0.19 and 0.18 dates are wrong as they were released in 2012. Someone with more info about those could fix the dates — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tuupertunut (talkcontribs)

That is not correct. 0.18.2 was released 2012 but every update after that was released 2013. I've been playing KSP since December 2012 with 0.18.2. Also version history#v0.18.3 .28Demo.29 agrees with me. — xZise [talk] 10:24, 22 October 2013 (CDT)
Strange. I have started in 0.19 and remember reading somewhere from this wiki that 0.19 was released in August/September 2012. Could have been a mistake in wiki or in my head, but anyways you seem right. - Tuupertunut (talk) 18:12, 22 October 2013 (CDT)
Here is the working link for the release of 0.19: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/content/148xZise [talk] 19:42, 22 October 2013 (CDT)

Name change of the wiki?

I'm just thinking, maybe rename the kerbal space program wiki to Kerbapedia?Just a suggestion. --Mozziedoo (talk) 03:17, 6 February 2014 (CST)

Fan-made Tool section

There's plenty of online tools for calculations related to the game (orbits, Δv etc.) and there isn't a forum thread or wiki page that has at least a rudimentary list of them, which I think would be beneficial. If it's ok, I'd like to make one here on the wiki for inclusion on the main page (as it seems the logical place to put it imho) - I don't think the forum would be ideal for this as it would require me (or whoever creates the thread) to be the sole maintainer, unlike the wiki. --MechaLynx (talk) 22:40, 10 April 2014 (CDT)

Go ahead and create such a repository. There was actually such a list, although pretty short, on addon. Now it was removed, because the lists on there weren't really maintained, but you can find it here. If it's good I'll add it to the main page. You can also add a link to Tutorials. — xZise [talk] 10:01, 12 April 2014 (CDT)
I've started working on it, should be done within the next couple of days, time permitting. I'd like to delay posting a link until it's ready if that's ok. (edit: I just realised it's super easy to get a link lol :P was just worried about trollish interference, but I guess that's a moot point now) --MechaLynx (talk) 21:39, 14 April 2014 (CDT)
Uh, dude the page has been ready for some while now. I know you're busy but it's just standing there being useless. I'll add a link to Tutorials soon so that there's at least something linking to it (I think it's good enough to be linked somewhere on the wiki, but I won't add a link on the main page unless you or some other mature member does so). --MechaLynx (talk) 10:04, 29 April 2014 (CDT)
So I've added your two articles. — xZise [talk] 13:06, 29 April 2014 (CDT)
Thanks mate. I only made one article though :P Is it ok if I announce it on the forums so that tool authors know that it's there? --MechaLynx (talk) 19:07, 29 April 2014 (CDT)
Ah I though you were talking about addon. Either way they are now up there. And about the forum, do as you like. — xZise [talk] 12:44, 30 April 2014 (CDT)
No problem. I actually just made an edit to addon that I wanted to make a while ago :P might be putting some work on addon information in the future now that I've lost my mediawiki virginity :P --MechaLynx (talk) 21:17, 30 April 2014 (CDT)

Release Dates: 1.2.2

Main Page lists the release date of 1.2.2 bugfix patch as Nov 1, 2016.
Release notes lists release date of 1.2.2 bugfix patch as Dec 6, 2016.
Would love to fix, but I'm apparently not 'established'...
--Moorepiepoopstain (talk) 03:10, 14 December 2016 (UTC)

Looks like this was taken care of back in December. UmbralRaptor (talk) 02:03, 28 July 2017 (UTC)

Question

HOW THE HECK DO I DELETE AN ACCOUNT?

You'll want to contact an admin, particularly if it's your own account or to point us at a spammer to ban. I am available in the #KSPOfficial IRC channel on esper.net much of the time, and there's also a wiki section on the forum. UmbralRaptor (talk) 02:03, 28 July 2017 (UTC)

Add news

1.4, tentatively named AWAY WITH WORDS: MKII, has been released.

I did so in the recent events section before this was posted? UmbralRaptor (talk) 18:16, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
The version history is not yet updated.

How to edit data list

In the version of the game I have, the Stratus-V RCS tanks are made by Stratus Corporation, not found by the side of the road. How do I change this?

Making History Expansion

How do we let people visually see that a page is about the Making History expansion and not the stock game? Do we use a notice box and mention it in the first line of the page? --Olympic1 (talk) 00:31, 14 March 2018 (UTC)

sure --User:KerbMaster (talk) 18:38, March 14, 2018 (EST)

Template questions...

I'm a noob at editing Wikis and this one is kinda complicated, with the data templates and all. Is there guidance somewhere on how to approach it all? I'd like to help out with updating stuff if poss. Also, queries about two things I have noticed: firstly, edits to templates don't show up in "Recent changes" - is this intentional? Secondly, the recent (1.11) mass changes for some parts caused me to look at their info on the wiki. For the Cupola, I can see that there are now 2 different mass values showing up - the old (now incorrect) one in the main Parts page, and the new one which is in the sidebar thingy on the Cupola's own wiki page. The correct mass has been adjusted within a template by ArnePeirs a few days ago, but the incorrect one is presumably in a different data template... this leads to the fairly obvious question "why is the data stored in more than one place?".
