A spaceplane is a hybrid of a plane and rocket. It utilizes jet engine for fuel efficient maneuvering in the atmosphere of Kerbin and some kind of reaction engines to maneuver in space. A plane with only jet engines isn't capable of reaching a stable orbit, although it is possible to get an apoapsis far into space.
Those are usually build in the Space Plane Hangar on the Kerbal Space Center. There are two runways/landing strips on Kerbin. One runway connected to the Space Plane Hangar and also a second landing strip at the Insular Kerbal Space Center.
There are various pre build stock craft available, although only the Aeris 4A has the means to reach space.
