Tourist is the pseudo-specialization of Kerbals who ride aboard a vessel but are not Kerbonauts. They cannot control vessels, cannot write crew reports, cannot perform EVAs, and have no abilities to provide operational bonuses to vessels. They are added to crew compartments as part of tourism contracts, in which one or more tourists must be escorted to various locations in the Kerbol System. They have G force tolerance of 0.75.

Trivia

  • It is possible to make a Tourist go on EVA by placing them in an EAS-1 External Command Seat. They will be able to leave the seat, make EVA reports, collect samples, and even transfer experiment data like any other Kerbonaut. They will be unable to go on EVA again once they enter a command module that isn't an EAS-1 External Command Seat.
