About {{if lang}}

{{if lang}} seems to work well in normal pages, but in Categories (like Category:Celestials/ru) the {{if lang}} in templates (like {{Celestial Bodies}} ) doesn't work. Are there ways to fix this without building a new template? Cesrate (talk) 22:24, 15 May 2013 (CDT)

Hmmm, okay I maybe have a solution. Now the problem is that in the category namespace it don't know subpages. When you have Kerbin/ru it shows you a link to Kerbin directly below the articlename. Now in categories it don't work. All language temples like {{if lang}} and {{lang}} depend on this. — xZise [talk] 13:29, 16 May 2013 (CDT)
Okay {{if lang}} and {{lang}} now should work also in the category namespace. If you see anything strange now with any of these templates please tell me. But for example the Russian category you linked works fine! — xZise [talk] 08:29, 9 June 2013 (CDT)
Holy crap awesome work. Working well now:) ——Cesrate (talk) 08:50, 9 June 2013 (CDT)

What is "Rotational/Inertial transition" in Reference Frame table?

Hi, the wiki's going well now, but we have a problem that couldn't be made clear by ourselves. As the title shows, what is "Rotational/Inertial transition"? We're not sure how to deal with it except guesses, so could you offer some detailed information about this? Thanks a lot. ——Cesrate (talk) 06:49, 21 May 2013 (CDT)

I have no idea. It is one of the mysteries which I couldn't solve yet. I created a new topic in the template talk. — xZise [talk] 10:17, 21 May 2013 (CDT)
Maybe I should ask Forum… ——Cesrate (talk) 15:24, 21 May 2013 (CDT)
Oh, I think I got the answer, it's really the change from rotational reference frame to interial reference frame. The rotational frame follows the planets' rotation, making it easier to describe the ship's motion when it's close to planet. ——Cesrate (talk) 15:32, 21 May 2013 (CDT)
So is it the height when the speed indicator changes from Surface to Orbital speed? That's strange, after all it seems to be 100,000 m for just about everything except Dres. I'll try checking that tomorrow. --Dgelessus (talk) 15:51, 21 May 2013 (CDT)
I don't think so that is when it changes between Surface/Orbital speed. In Scott Manley's video it changes way before the Ap is above 100 km. But to be honest I don't understand Cesrate's explanation. Is it simply an internal programming thing, that it is either relative to Kerbin (rotational frame) or relative to Kerbol (inertial frame)? — xZise [talk] 17:15, 21 May 2013 (CDT)
It's for when the engine switches your craft between reference frames (for calculating the motion), rather than the surface/orbital figures on the navball. There was a time when it varied a great deal between Kerbin (70 km), Mun (5 km), etc. UmbralRaptor (talk) 11:59, 26 May 2013 (CDT)

Thanks for cleaning up the new parts!

I put in the new parts from version 0.20, but I was kind of sloppy. Then I noticed someone was cleaning up after me! Thanks very much. Keep up the good work! Dudecon (talk) 15:57, 23 May 2013 (CDT)

About Carrier

may as well delete it now, 'till i get more info. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Geoform (talkcontribs)

Hello Geoform. Maybe you have seen the discussion on your talk page? And you can test your pages in your userspace (e.g. User:Geoform/Carrier) and when you have a decent page, ask an admin (aka Sysop) to move article. — xZise [talk] 09:16, 25 May 2013 (CDT)
Okay I moved the article, so you can start enhancing it. — xZise [talk] 09:18, 25 May 2013 (CDT)

Answer

Yep. I'm going to fix it. Gusta (talk) 07:58, 28 May 2013 (CDT)

Thank you very much :) — xZise [talk] 10:21, 28 May 2013 (CDT)

Template Editing

Sorry for errors! I was just adding the missing characters but you acted quicker then me. Sorry for messing it up and thanks for fixing it. Good day! --Miracmert (talk) 19:46, 29 May 2013 (CDT)

Not a problem ;) I'm also not perfect and uploaded many buggy versions of any template I edited. — xZise [talk] 03:22, 30 May 2013 (CDT)

Questions set

Good day, here are some questions coming out during these days.

  • The languages sidebar, shows zh-cn as "中国大陆", technically it's not a name of language. Could you change it to "中文(中国大陆)" like this Wiki default?
  • In Terminology, there's "Mathematic & Geometric", but isn't geometric a part of mathematics?
  • Could I mark every page I meet that is somewhat unfinished or needs update with {{Stub}} or {{Outdated}}?
  • Are users allowed to make their own user pages be used for some... "Off-topic" stuffs? If the data usage isn't big?

Thanks. ——Cesrate (talk) 04:36, 30 May 2013 (CDT)

Hi Cesrate, I can already answer some questions.
Unfinished or outdated pages can of course be marked with {{Stub}} or {{Outdated}} respectively, that's the puropse of those templates. The marked pages are then automatically added to Category:Stubs or Category:Update Requests respectively, so people can check these categories and see where they can help.
Regarding the user pages, you can do with these what you want, as long as it's not completely unrelated to KSP. As far as I can tell their main purposes are either personal projects or testing.
One thing about geometry and mathematics, I think they are both named just to make things clearer. You are right though, geometry is part of mathematics.

Good. The purpose of Q3 and Q4 is that... I don't know what others would think if I constantly create too much changes and personal stuffs in Special:RecentChanges;) ——Cesrate (talk) 05:49, 30 May 2013 (CDT)
Q1 → will be changed soon.
Q2 → yep it isn't the best choice, but you are free to update it. If somebody has a problem with your suggestion discuss it on Talk:Terminology.
Q3 → As dglesseus said: That is the purpose. You don't have to ask an admin for clearance to use them.
Q4 → Depends on the topic: I'm not making the rules, but as long as it has something to do with KSP it should be fine. Those subpages are mostly used to test the syntax. I'm guessing you are talking about this. Now if it is going to be a novel I'm not sure if this is welcomed here.
Oh and by the way: It is easier to see to who you are answering, when you indent your answer with colons. — xZise [talk] 11:55, 30 May 2013 (CDT)
Oh, it's just a test subject of branched story on wiki, inspired by wiki games. Once completed I may post the link to KSP Forum Fan-work zone. ——Cesrate (talk) 18:31, 30 May 2013 (CDT)

Translating Templates

Hi again! I'm trying to translate some templates on my free times and started that with Template:Stub. I hope nothing's wrong with that for you. Also I have a question that when I edit a template I can't see the new added language on the language bar at left however it works perfectly when I use the template on that pages of that language. (Btw, you should delete some of the previous questions for your eyes health lol.) --Miracmert (talk) 13:27, 30 May 2013 (CDT)

When you use {{lang}}, like you did with {{Stub}}, then the other language don't appear on the sidebar. Only if there is a page like Kerbol/tr all pages beginning with Kerbol (like Kerbol/de etc.) should the Turkish translation available. Now for templates there are rarely translated templates. And in most cases only the code is different but the template description isn't. If you want to test the translation, you can create a subpage in your userspace (like User:XZise/test/de). About translating {{Stub}} it should be okay ;) — xZise [talk] 14:49, 30 May 2013 (CDT)
Oh, Hello and BTW you(?) made a little mistake on PlanetBox - Atmospheric Characteristics, causing the zh-cn title followed by code "tr" and tr title failed. I've fixed this. ——Cesrate (talk)

Uniform Easter eggs spoiler in celestial body pages

It seems that Mun has been the precedent of putting Easter eggs spoiler into celestial body pages, so I assume it's permitted. So, what the general form should it be? Like Mun's, put it into a SpoilerBox in Topography? ——Cesrate (talk) 04:50, 5 June 2013 (CDT)

List of easter eggs should be only for not so important easter eggs. But when you can fill a hole paragraph with the easter eggs, I guess it's okay to have a seperate section like Mun or Ike. — xZise [talk] 06:24, 5 June 2013 (CDT)
I agree with listing Easter Eggs in both the dedicated page and the appropriate celestial body page. We can take our time transitioning this, though. There is no need to rush to fill in this information. As a side note, we should make sure it stays behind a spoiler block on the celestial body page. The same goes for any screenshots of Easter Eggs. --Ruedii (talk) 08:59, 5 June 2013 (CDT)

Problems of LanguageBox on zh-tw Mainpage

RHZhao may start to work on zh-tw pages before long, but now I find on Main Page/zh-tw all the language links are to Main Page/zh-tw/xx instead of Main Page/xx, which makes them all invalid. I don't know what caused this problem. Could you fix this? ——Cesrate (talk) 22:36, 8 June 2013 (CDT)

A thanks for the info! Until now zh-tw wasn't a supported language by {{lang}} and {{if lang}} and those links needed to know, that the suffix is a language code (if not it thinks it is a English page and adds the other language codes). It is now fixed! — xZise [talk] 05:21, 9 June 2013 (CDT)
Oh, thanks very much. ——Cesrate (talk) 06:58, 9 June 2013 (CDT)

Username change

Can I request a wiki name change? I would like it shortened to inigma Thanks! Inigmatus (talk) 18:16, 12 June 2013 (CDT)

I guess you need to ask User talk:N3X15 for this favour as the needed extension aren't installed and I'm not able to install those. But I'm not sure how useful this is you should consider if “inigma” is really necessary. — xZise [talk] 18:34, 12 June 2013 (CDT)

Thanks

Thanks for deleting my error of a page. I thought the KSPX addon parts were real parts, so thanks man!\ --Kerbinorbit (talk) 14:22, 13 June 2013 (CDT)

Interwiki link "bug"

That one seems somewhat buggy... For example if you take a look at Kerbal Space Program Wiki:Guidelines#Linking_to_forum.2Fblog nothing appears after the "generates" of the bug: line. Instead a link with "exotic" characters (Win XP can't display them) is added to the sidebar under "In other languages". This does not happen with the other interwiki prefixes. You have added them, so could you please try to fix that? --dgelessus (talk · logs) 18:05, 22 June 2013 (CDT)

This is strange. On User talk:UmbralRaptor it works fine. I'll try to look into it. If you find any other strange behaviour of this prefix let me know. — xZise [talk] 18:49, 22 June 2013 (CDT)
