Na Kerbinu, domovské planetě Kerbalů, se nachází vesmírné centrum. Tato planeta je také hlavním střediskem hry Kerbal Space Program. Je to herní analog pro Zemi. Má dva měsíce, které se jmenují Mün a Minmus.
Kerbin je třetí planeta na oběžné dráze hvězdy Kerbol. Je to třetí největší planeta (po Joolu and Eve) a čtvrté největší těleso v systému Kerbolu (s Tylo, měsícem Joolu, který je o trochu větší).
Získání stabilní oběžné dráhy okolo Kerbinu je jeden ze základních cílů, které se hráči snaží splnit. Dosáhnutí takové dráhy s ohledem na optimální využití paliva[1] vyžaduje delta-V ≈4500 m/s,[2] což je druhé největší d-V pro všechna pevná vesmírná tělesa, hned po Eve. Pro mnoho meziplanetárních misí, tento základní manévr představuje přes polovinu potřebného d-V. (Stejné to je i u pozemských meziplanetárních letů a "Pokud se dostanete na oběžnou dráhu, jste na polovině cesty kamkoli."[3])

Topography
Kerbin has a roughly equal distribution of surface liquid water and solid land, with polar icecaps and scattered deserts. There are mountains exceeding 4 km in height, with the tallest peak being just under 4044 m in altitude. Kerbin shows signs of having been impacted by an asteroid or comet. That is visible in the large crater in the western hemisphere. The crater's central peak is visible from orbit and was caused by the compression followed by the rebound of material in the center of the crater. |
