The Munar Excursion Module (M.E.M.) is a Command Module housing two Kerbal crew members during their mission. The M.E.M. is based off of the Lunar Excursion Module.

Usage

Generally placed at the top of the rocket as part of a lander, the Munar Excursion Module provides full command module functionality.

The Munar Excursion Module is outfitted with its own RCS thrusters along with a small amount of monopropellant, liquid fuel and oxidizer. However, unlike most crewed command module, it does not have reaction wheels. It also has two attachment nodes on the bottom, rather than only one; attaching a part to the lower node extends a conical 1.25m shroud from the bottom of the Munar Excursion Module, allowing it to seamlessly fit to parts larger than itself.

If 2 pilots are aboard, the ship containing the Munar Excursion Module will be able to control probes or rovers without a connection to the KSC.

Be warned: as of its initial release, the Munar Excursion Module has asymmetrical weight distribution and RCS thrust, which must be taken into consideration during craft design to avoid experiencing unwanted torque during flight.

Product description

After hearing pilots refer to their current line of landers as 'easily crushed tin cans', the marketing department decided that what customers really wanted was a lander that resembled an already crushed tin can.

Real-world comparison

The Munar Excursion Module was inspired by the Apollo LEM.
