Similar to the real life comparison LR-87 engine, the LV-TX87 "Bobcat" Liquid Fuel Engine is best used as a first stage engine. If playing Career or Science mode, it offers the highest sea level specific impulse when reaching heavy rocketry in the tech tree. Therefore, it should be highly considered when building medium sized vehicles.

The LV-TX87 "Bobcat" Liquid Fuel Engine is the highest-thrust medium-sized engine.

Usage

The Bobcat has a specific impulse of 290s in atmosphere. Only four other engines meet or exceed this, and all of them come at level 8 of the tech tree, while the Bobcat appears much earlier at level 5. It also has a good thrust-to-weight ratio, and its cost is exceptionally low for the thrust it produces. This makes it effective for first stages and well worth using for medium size rockets.

Unlike the double bell version of the RE-L10 "Poodle" Liquid Fuel Engine, the Bobcat's two engine bells can gimbal separately, allowing the engine to provide roll control. Additionally, the gimbal statistics can be toggled separately using tweakables.

Product description

Meow! One of these engines gives more than enough thrust to jump as high as the sky, so we gave you two.
