The Delta-Deluxe Winglet is a control surface — a part that generates lift and deflects to alter a craft's center of lift to aid control of aerodynamic flight within an atmosphere. It also functions as a small wing in that it generates significantly more lift than an elevon.
Usage
The Delta-Deluxe Winglet is often used as a tailfin with built in control surface and as a canard in plane designs where center of lift needs to be moved toward the nose to avoid excessive stability.
Product description
“ | The Delta-Deluxe Winglet is a large aerodynamic surface with a small built-in aileron. It is very lightweight and offers more lift than the AV-R8 but the small control surface area means it is not as quick to turn. — Kerlington Model Rockets and Paper Products Inc |
