The ROUND-8 Toroidal Fuel Tank provided fuel to attached liquid fuel engines. Like the name said it was the only toroidal fuel tank available before the R-12 'Doughnut' External Tank.
Usage
It was the second smallest liquid fuel tank in the game, after the Oscar-B Fuel Tank. It carried 150% of the fuel capacity of the Oscar-B Fuel Tank, despite having a smaller apparent size. This and its ability to stack very compactly made it is very useful for probes and small vehicles, but cannot have parts attached radially to it and it is wider than other parts of the tiny diameter. It was designed to fit in with the 0.65 meter form factor, or the 1.25m one, depending on the inner or outer radius.
Given the ROUND-8 was one of the few parts in Kerbal Space Program that is covered in orange multi-layer insulation and its round shape, it was often seen in the roles of wheels, life preservers, and warp coils in more artistic craft-although its functionality in such roles, especially as a combustible item, is doubtful.
