The TR-18D Stack Separator is a Separator that allows for staging rockets vertically and in sequence.

The TR-18D adds a stage to the rocket and when activated will release the separator as well as anything attached to it, much like the TR-2C. Unlike normal decouplers, separators come free from both sides, leaving the decoupler floating.

Product description

Unlike Decouplers, Separators jettison everything attached to them. This new technology was very well received by rocket engineers everywhere. Not bad for something that started out as a failure for a controlled explosive bolt prototype.
