Product description
“ | The X50R is a small-volume Xenon container, heralded by engineers for being ideally suited for small ion-driven spacecraft, and also for having thoroughly disproved management in their notion that a smaller fuel tank would make the fuel cheaper. | ” |
Usage
The PB-X50R Xenon Container provides xenon gas to the IX-6315 "Dawn" Electric Propulsion System, the only ion engine. Unlike liquid fuel and oxidizer, and like monopropellant, xenon gas does not require fuel crossfeed; the Dawn engine can drain xenon gas from any fuel tank, even if the engine and tank aren't connected with fuel crossfeed capable parts.
The PB-X50R stores 405 units of xenon gas; since xenon has a density of 0.1 kg (0.001 t) per unit, the tank stores 0.405 tons of xenon. This allows it to power a Dawn ion engine for 833.3 s (13 m, 53.3 s) at full thrust.
Trivia
- The PB-X50R is the only xenon gas tank not manufactured by Probodobodyne Inc.
- The PB-X50R was originally from the KSPX parts mod; several parts from KSPX were added to the stock game in version 0.21.
