  1. 1.0 1.1 The mass and drag are from the part config, but the game handles it as physicsless.

The 2HOT Thermometer displays temperature to 5 significant figures when activated and right-clicked. There is no unit shown but it is assumed to be Kelvin. In career mode, it is available with Space Exploration, at level 5 of the technology tree.

Usage

The temperature rises while engines are firing. No methods are known to reduce temperature except, of course, to go to space or to stop firing the engines, though this can be mitigated by attaching parts as "heat sinks". The 2HOT also measures the ambient temperature. This can be used to determine atmosphere temperatures. Sunlight will affect the measured temperature, but not in a consistent manner; being in the shade can cause a thermometer to give lower read-outs, but getting close to Kerbol does not raise the temperature. The thermometer is also capable of providing readings as low as -429, far below absolute zero in every unit besides Fahrenheit.

While active, the thermometer drains 0.0075 electric charge per second (27 E/hr).

The 2HOT cannot be used to earn science while distant from a celestial body, although it will continue to tell the temperature. Science can be generated by the 2HOT as long as the craft is within some small distance of the celestial body and works if it is in a vacuum, unlike the PresMat Barometer.

Product description

This thermometer is definitely not a store-bought model with some wires stuck to it. Warranty void if an engineer admits it's actually a store-bought model with some wires stuck to it.
