The TD-12 Decoupler is a decoupler that allows for staging rockets vertically and in sequence. This part replaced the older TR-18A Stack Decoupler, but works essentially the same and has a shorter visual profile.

Usage

The TD-12 adds a stage to the rocket and when activated will jettison with anything attached below it. Unlike the TS-12 Stack Separator, the TD-18 remains affixed to one side of the rocket - the side facing away from the arrow on the decoupler. It is primarily used for jettisoning spent stages or drop tanks attached with a 1.25m node.

Node Size

  • 1.25m - decouple side (releases from upper attached part)
  • 1.25m - non-decouple side (remains with lower attached part)

Product description

The TD-12 Stack Decoupler is equipped with a (hopefully) small explosive charge, that will sever the structural linkage between itself and whatever it's connected to. Painted on its sides are handy arrows indicating which side will detach
