The Mystery Goo™ Containment Unit is a scientific instrument; it gains science points by observing a special compound, "goo", in various scenarios in both atmosphere and vacuum.
In Career and Science mode, it is available through Start, as the first tier of the technology tree; it is automatically unlocked and can be placed on a player's first rocket.

Usage
The Mystery Goo™ Containment Unit can be radially attached to a vessel. It is advised to place the unit with symmetry, especially on smaller rockets and landers; a single, radially mounted Goo container can throw off a vessel's center of mass, causing asymmetric thrust.

The Mystery Goo™ Containment Unit is activated either via a prompt by right, then left clicking on the module (selecting "Observe Mystery Goo"), or action groups.
The science gained from observing the Mystery Goo™ varies depending on celestial body and different conditions in flight. It generates unique results from each biome while on the surface (landed or splashed), but only generates one result per celestial body in other conditions (flying in atmosphere, low/high space).
Unlike many other scientific instruments, the canister cannot be reused after its results are transmitted, unless it is reset and cleaned by a Mobile Processing Lab MPL-LG-2 or a Kerbal Scientist during EVA. Before cleaning, the experiment should be removed, either by the Scientist cleaning the container or with an Experiment Storage Unit.
Trivia
- One of the many mysteries in the game is what color the goo is. It will probably never be known, but people say it is green.
Changes
- Added manufacturer
- Size and mass reduced
- Initial release
