The FTX-2 External Fuel Duct is the only fuel line in the game so far. It allows fuel to be drained off external (side-mounted) tanks, or tanks in latter stages. Currently, it is massless and dragless, despite the CFG file values.
Usage
The FTX-2 allows fuel not directly connected to an engine to be used. The line must be first connected to the source for the fuel then to the destination of the fuel. If an engine is connected directly to fuel tanks by a fuel line, the tanks connected by fuel line will be prioritized. It is important to observe the arrows depicted on the fuel duct as they provide a visual cue as to the direction of the fuel flow.
Any part connected to a fuel line will allow fuel flow, even if fuelCrossFeed = False
in its CFG file. The FTX-2's links provide additional strength and stability, somewhat like the EAS-4 Strut Connector.
Fuel lines are a vital part of asparagus staging designs allowing for use of all engines available where fuel is first drained from external fuel tanks allowing them to be jettisoned (severing the FTX-2 External Fuel Duct) when they become empty. By the time the last external fuel tanks are jettisoned, the central or main fuel tanks left on the vessel will be at a full fuel level.
