The PPD-10 Hitchhiker Storage Container (also HSC) is a container and can be manned with 4 Kerbals.

Usage

It is empty at the beginning of a flight and needed to be manned manually. To man the container other Kerbals need to be transferred from command pods with an EVA. When Kerbals are in a storage container, their portraits will not show up in the staging view. But they leave the storage container out by left-clicking the door of the container and clicking on the EVA buttons next to their names.

The main uses of storage containers are:

  • Building space stations and bases
  • Rescuing stranded Kerbonauts and bringing them home
Possible interior

Interior

Until version 0.19.1 the HSC hasn't any interior view and doesn't allow to go IVA with a Kerbal. The KSP Weekly game development report from March 19th 2013 included a picture which may be the interior of the Hitchhiker Storage Container in a future version.

Description

The HSC was an invention of necessity - how do we store 4 Kerbals on-orbit without any real provisions for return? Who needed this remains a mystery, as do his motives
