The FL-T250 Fuel Tank provides fuel to liquid fuel engines, like the LV-909, attached beneath it.

Usage

The FL-T250 Fuel Tank is a Liquid Fuel tank available only in the paid version. Like the FL-T500, it can power the LV-series Liquid Fuel Engines. It provides thrust for a short duration that may be extended by stacking multiple fuel tanks on top of each other. It can be attached to radial decouplers and the sides of other fuel tanks.

With a fuel reserve of 250 units, one tank can power a single LV-909 engine for 125 seconds on full thrust.

Unlike the RT-10 Solid Fuel Booster, the amount of thrust can be dictated by the user, with varying severity in and out of the atmosphere of Kerbin. One can use full thrust, with a higher chance of overheat during atmospheric burning, and optimal thrust during low Mün orbit, and minimal thrust for course corrections during high Mün orbit.

Unlike the FL-T500, the FL-T250 is best used for Mün lander/return stages, and low energy orbital maneuvers. It has a proportionally higher empty mass that results in a slightly higher specific impulse and substantially worse mass ratio. A single FL-T500 will generally outperform a pair of FL-T250s.

Description

The T250 tank had some difficulty being accepted in the spacecraft engineering world, because most rocket builders had trouble overcoming their urges to squee at the "cute little fuel tank". This initial reaction was only put aside when the amount of fiery explosions in assembly areas became so high, strict guidelines were put in place to prohibit "teasing the fuel containers". The T250 Tank now is widely used in several space programs, especially in conjunction with the LV-909 engine.
