  1. Energy output depends on the distance and angle to the Sun. The value is achieved at Kerbin's distance, with the panel pointed directly at the Sun.

The SP-L 1x6 Photovoltaic Panels are a mid-sized set of deployable solar panels. Unlike the OX-4W/L, the SP-W/L feature a heavy protective shroud. This shroud bears a small yellow sticker reading "WARNING: THIS THING MOVES".

Usage

The SP-L deploy a 1×6 solar cell layout. There is also a SP-W 2x3 version available with a 3×2 layout. These panels generate electric charge only on extended state and directly illuminated by the light of Kerbol. For putting it operational just choose the Extend Panels option in the popping up menu by right-clicking on it. For retraction choose the Retract Panels option with same method. The action groups can make this operation much easier - moreover using the Toggle Panels command, the player can extend and retract several solar panels with a single keystroke.

The electricity generation efficiency depends on the distance from Kerbol and the orientation of the panels. The panels set in the optimal orientation automatically, but sometimes even this can not ensure the 2 unit/second specified at Kerbin's distance every time (shadowed by the craft, etc.).

These panes are very vulnerable in extended state, a minor shaking or even the winds can break them off. Because of this, you have to move very slowly and carefully with extended panels on the celestial bodies, or retract the panels before moving.

Product description

The alternate configuration of the SP Model Photovoltaic Panels. Includes passive radiators on the reverse side for better heat dissipation.
